Give me a fucking break. Thankfully the coaches don't give up on their players as easily as fans. Different position? Are you serious? TP didn't look great to me either but I am more than happy he's our QB and I can also keep in mind he's a true sophomore.

tOSU has never recruited a lot of big time talents at QB so the "who have we produced in the NFL" question doesn't hold much water with TP. We did just send a 6'0" athlete to the league and he's doing better than anyone would've thought.

Obviously you forget that Troy wasn't brought in as a QB... he was an athelete. He didn't come here to be a "pro style" QB either. The staff molded their offense around his legs. That's not the case with TP. He came here to be a QB. Whether you like it or not, we are not a QB factory, and probably never will be.

Josh, Do you really believe that if Tress and his staff planned on developing Troy as a QB originally, that they would be using him as a kick returner? They really had no choice (thank goodness) to put him in the position once Justin didn't pan out.

Vince Young became a college football legend for his 2005 season. He was an absolute trainwreck early in his career. His third year was still pretty spotty, as he was completely shut down vs Oklahoma and his team was shut out. He entered his fourth year at Texas with almost no one believing he could pass.

Running qbs take a while to develop. It's a painful process, but one that should not be ignored.

I agree with everything you say. I'm starting to think that if we had a more capable back up QB, TP would be better suited in a different position. More than a couple of his passes could have went the other way. The one TD to Posey stands out the most. I think that after 15 or so games as a starter he would be farther along than he is. To say the least I'm a tad dissapointed.

Disappointed? Understandable. Thinking he needs to move to a new position? Go look back at the top running qbs over the years coming out of HS, and how long it took to develop them

Which leads to this... TP wanted to be a "Pro Style QB" and get to the NFL, that's why he came here. Just how many QB's have we put in the NFL in TP's lifetime, and how many of those QB's are still there or played significant time?
... but I can't for the life of me figure out why someone who wants to be a successful NFL QB would come here under the current staff. They have proven nothing.

Terrelle didn't come here to become Tom Brady. Terrelle came here because he wanted to learn how to be a passer. If he went to Michigan, he'd be running wild, but would not develop as a passer and have little to no shot at the position at the next level.

Many of us wanted to see Pryor in different sets to use his ability, and they've done that. At some point, the kid still has to grow up.

How many QB's have the other top schools in the nation put in the NFL? I honestly don't know the answer and I hope JLB or DBB already has the stats somewhere,

Not very many, other than USC, who has an NFL factory in their county. You can put up a SoCal QB against any qb in america and have a pretty good recruiting battle every single year.

I don't see why it matters. They developed a 1-read and go runner into a heisman trophy winner. That was a great feather in their cap in terms of development.

That doesn't mean Ryan Mallett should have attended OSU in order to become the first pick in the draft someday... it just means they can do it.

So you're not willing to recognize how long it takes to develop qbs like Terrelle? I think that's a cop out.

He came here to learn to become a true quarterback, which is his only ticket to the NFL as a quarterback, not running around like Pat White. He has been given that opportunity.

Tressel has had Bellisari, Krenzel, Zwick, Smith & Boeckman to work with. The only class with much talent at all was Zwick/Smith and they maximized Troy's talent.

Hell, I can't think of a QB that has came out of Ohio State to do anything in the NFL in my lifetime (which is a short 28 years), let alone in JT's tenure.

OSU is a regional school. Ohio doesn't produce them, outside of late bloomers.

What did his QB's do at Youngstown State? Did any of them go on to the NFL?

I do recognize that it takes a while, but like I said. Terrelle and Vince are not the same people. They don't learn at the same rate, and they surely don't have the same coaching.
