WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

The comparisons are ridiculous.

TP is not Troy, TP is not Vince, he is TP.

I'm looking for improvement up to the scUM game & Bowl game.. it will be interesting to see the leap from Sophomore year to Junior year as well. Most QBs I've seen in my lifetime make their biggest jump between Soph. & Junior years anyways.

From the stands in Bloomington, TP did not look impressive. There were reads & receivers missed - and IMO, that's to be expected with a young QB. The one TD pass was a helluva throw - and he has shown flashes this year of what "could be" with his arm. It seems like - from the articles and interviews I've read & seen - he puts way too much pressure on himself and needs to go out there and just play.

Talk radio should be fun in Columbus this week - TP has got a lot of work to do - and we benched Todd Boeckman for much less (a guy who led the Big 10 in efficiency his Junior year and took us to the National Championship). I'm not suggesting we bench TP at all - so don't quote this post and twist my words - but Boeckman did get a raw deal last year.

Please stop with the comparisons to Troy & others:

Give the kid time. I'll hold off my judgment until 2010 M*ch*g*n.

Only at Ohio State do you see a QB throw for 3 touchdown passes in the first half, and run for one in the second.........and still you have people griping about him.

I think some expect him to throw for 350 yards, and run for 120 every game. Give the kid a freaking break, he's still a work in progress. A lot of the quarterbacks that have been mentioned redshirted in their career. Pryor did not.

I think he needs to work on not overthrowing his slant routes, as well as throwing the ball away. That being said, I'll take those minor mistakes if he is able to turn a sack into a 7-10 yard run, any day of the week. What do I know though, I am only a fan who watches him perform every Saturday, these are just things I see on TV.

It never ceases to amaze me the number of coaches we have on this board. Quite a few guys seem to have the answers. I guess a DVR, a recliner, and a tunneled knowledge of football are all you need to be a head coach these days. :bonk:

I don't know if it's been mentioned in here, but I loved that TP got up the field on the options this week rather than stringing it out to the sideline. Hopefully we'll see a little more of that over the rest of the season. The passing will come, but I care more about him making the right calls in his running game right now. Next up a little shotgun triple option.

I agree with Daddy, too many people think they are coaches. I just enjoy watching the Buckeyes play along with Pryor. Too much thinking, too little patience in some fans.

I didn't see it in this thread, and I agree. He did a great job getting upfield. The other thing with getting up field, the fake option pass we've run a handful of times this year will be much more effective.

I think the criticism isn't so much mean spirited as it is a recognition that he has a lot of room to get better. That's a good thing. People who are freaking out about his play are stupid. People who say "Wow, imagine what he could do if he could just get X aspect down?" are my kind of people.

This kid is good. He can be great. Time will tell.

From my very birds eye view of the game, he made some nice decisions (as far as where to cut up) and seemed more confident. I was very pleased.

TP played a great game up until his final two snaps. Gotta hang on to the ball and for god sakes never lob the ball to the front pylon. If you are going to throw it to the front of the endzone, you better put some steam on it.

I'm not actually too unhappy with the way that game ended. If we punch it in and then hold Indiana and win 40-7 everyone is feeling pretty good about themselves.

The team left Bloomington with a bit of a bad taste in their mouth after failing to finish out the game strong. I think that will help them to focus more this week in practice.

That game Saturday could have easily been 50 somthing to 7.

Absolutely agree with the Colonel. TP is special. I could see it in his first game last year. Hopefully, any frustration with him is because we see what an incredible upside he has. On the other hand, everything I've read/heard is that he's just as incredibly hard on himself. The kid wants to get better. To paraphrase Little Animal, he's not trying to be Troy, but the best TP he can be. There'd be room to criticize if he was just coasting on athletic ability. He's not.
