WR Ted Ginn, Jr. (Official Thread)

I almost don't want to vote...because I really know nothing about how he is doing on defense. I'm gonna go call coach Tressel and ask him since he really is the only one who knows the answer :)

Not that I didn't enjoy scUM not getting a kickoff return past our 20...but part of me really wants to know what it would have been like to see scUM return a kick with only Nugent left to beat...just a thought...I wonder how loud the hit would be...hahaha.

I really think he will or may play both ways in certain game situations as the coaches feel that he can contribute. Especially on the defensive side of the ball something on the same lines as Gamble did. I have heard many comments from TV analysts that his legs are somewhat on the thin side but should that really matter. He is pretty fast runner.

Offense, punt and kick returns and some limited nickel. Period.

You cannot expect Ginn to play every down, offense and defense, all season without acknowledging: 1) the increased possibility of injury and 2) the unavoidable diminution of speed, strength and stamina on both defense and offense. So you use him where he can do you the most good -- touching the ball on offense.

TOSU has more than enough d-backs who can carry that load, without JT having to resort to exhausting one of the best players he'll ever coach.

Jerry Rice would probably have made a terrific corner too, but it would be absurd to use him that way. It would be just as stupid to run a talent like Teddy Ginn into the ground by overworking him.

Jermario could likely start over TG2 on defense at CB (if he doesn't grow into a S or an LB.. he's so big). TG's been so electric on offense/returns, I think he could make even more plays being in there as a nickel. I think I would like to see SirJo get a chance at CB, and I think he's definitely earned the right to it with his special teams performance this year.

Ginn @ corner

Hubbard said:
With the extra month of practice time does anyone think Ginn will be getting reps at corner? I do, the bowl games are a way to get ready for next year and reward the seniors. I think he is going to eventually do double duty ala Gamble and I say no better time than now to get him some reps and put him in a game situtation. I think we are going to need him there next year more than we thought as well, obviously Fox is gone and yes, we WILL miss him and with Underwood's uncertain status that leaves us with a bunch of unknowns. Although I wouldn't mine seeing Lane in there :p.
I do not think The coache's would ever take the huge risk of putting Ted at corner or any position on defence. You must realize that this guy is so huge of a offensive weapon that any coach (even a less conservative one than JT), could not afford to lose him as a wide out. If you are comparing him to Gamble I'm sure you realize that Gamble had a different kind of frame and was not quite as limber and probably a little more geared toward defence than Ginn.

Ginn obviously has the talent to do almost anything and play any position, he would be fine at corner, but it is just crazy to risk possibly the greatest talent OSU has seen at wide out since Galloway or Boston. I think that he will be better that both of them. GO BUCKS!
