WR Taurian Washington (official thread)

March just started. I think we will be just fine, whether it is with Washington or with someone else. We have a long long way to go and plenty more WR's names will come up that we have yet to hear. If this was January then I would be worried, but this is only March. Way to early to be freaking out about this in my opinon.

HotMic does have a point asking why aren't we offering if, as stated above, JT offers based on whether or not we have a "reasonable" chance at getting someone. We've offered some fairly big longshots before. There's more to it than having a "reasonable" chance ar a recruit.

As HM pointed out, Washington is a big Buckeye fan--in Michigan no less--and wants an offer. It's pretty clear we have more than a "reasonable" chance with the kid. We historically take our time in handing out offers. I would not be surprised at all to see us offer Washington sometime down the road, and maybe soon.

Agreed. It is WAAAAY to early to be screaming about the sky falling as far as not offering certain kids early. We're still in the process of evaluating talent to be able to receive those offers. Heck, it's not even SPRING yet! 11 months, fellas. Patience.

we have more than a reasonable chance with Washington, I just don't think he's that high on OSU's list right now. The guys we have offered at WR we have a reasonable chance right now, including Thompson.

Don't get me wrong guys, this is far from a sky is falling thread. But just think about last year, had we offered Thomas earlier...he may be at tOSU rather than Pitt. All that i'm saying is if A kid wants to be a Buckeye (a 4 star at a position of need none the less), then I don't understand extending offers to players such as Benn or Thompson who we have little to no shot at.

I know everything will end up fine, but personally I would rather end up with a 4 star stud early, than to chase a few 5 stars in vein and have to settle with a couple 3 star guys at the end of the recruiting year. If it wasn't a position of need, I could EASILY understand waiting. But lets face it guys, it is a MUST that we bring in at least a few stud WR's in this class. Much like DT, this is not a position which we can gamble on this year.

Not saying you are wrong, but understand that it is going to be VERY, I mean VERY hard to pull Deonte away from the south. History shows us that this is the case.

it works both ways. When a kid gets that offer, given how selective JT is, it becomes even more impressive when it comes. If he's a big buckeye fan, he should not be too worried about not being offered within the first month of offers (since most offers start after NLOID).

The Deonte and Arrelious offers are not nearly as similar as you suggest. Deonte is much different than your traditional superstar recruit. By the time he is ready to verbal, we may have our second breakout Muck City star at WR, with the other earning incredible money in the pros. Ginn is going pro, leaving a void for a star speedster like Deonte. It will be tough to land this kid, but it is not a shot in the dark like an offer to Benn.

Has there been any word on a forthcoming offer to Taurian? With Thompson not looking promising, I would think Washington would almost be a no-brainer offer with the need at WR. I have him on my list(not that it counts) right behind Clemons and slightly in front of Sukay. Not to mention he loves OSU.

I would rather have Chris Givens from Chillicothe over Washington. I just dont see Washington as a stud type receiver. He is only 6' 167, which is not that big and he isnt a blazer like you would want out of a guy with that size, like a Teddy or Holmes. I think he was a reported 4.7 at a rivals camp. I know it is electric, but he doesnt strike me as having that top end speed.

In his few Rivals clips he did show the ability to get around a press coverage, and get the ball b4 the safety against the cover two, but the corner trying to press him, didnt look like he was too big. He was also caughty from behind on one of his plays by a lb.

If the staff were to offer him, I would gladly say I am wrong, b/c they know more than me.
