WR Taurian Washington (official thread)

I was thinking that but given the limited amount of WR's we brought in this year and the eventual "leave early" for Ginn.....well I thought this one would be easy. I'll rest easy though, I know if he's waiting either he's going after a "bigger" fish or he's just making sure everything fits.

If he was on the top of their list he would have an offer. I am sure they feel like they have guys that are just as good from the homestate or guys they have higher on the board from OOS.

I'm still trying to understand why our staff hasn't offered this guy yet. It seems to be that we could land him if we went after him...he has said tOSU was his favorite growing up. Why go after guys we have a smaller chance of landing (Thompson, Sukay, Clemons) than going after guys that want to come here like Washington?

Neither Sukay nor Clemons have stated that Ohio State was their favorite growing up....Washington has. Washington also said that he would love to get an offer from tOSU, Sukay and Clemons have not. He has offers from every team in the BigTen (including Michigan and Penn Satte). I HIGHLY doubt that he "isn't worth the offer" from us.

*Keep the personal stuff off the recruiting board. Take it up in a PM if you feel the need.

I have never contended Washington wasn't worth an offer. My point is that Sukay and Clemons have both been informed by the staff that they are top targets this year.

Nice edit job. :roll2:

Anwyas, who cares if they are targets....is that what I said?? NO!!! We could make the top guy in Texas a target, USC's number one guy a target....and that wouldn't change anything. They would still go to Texas and USC. Just because we "target" guys doesn't be they have more of a chance of coming here like you implied. I presented the facts as to why I think Washington has a better chance coming here than Sukay or Clemons. You called me misinformed, when you have no basis for that claim.

Here's the thing about Tressel, he usual offers people that he feels he has a reasonable shot at getting, the staff will recruit a kid, get his feedback and then decide if he's worth the trouble to offer. This approach is totally different from Michigan and ND who basically offer anybody they like hoping that gets them in the door. If the staff feels like Clemons or whoever are worthy of an offer, than the kid himself told the staff he's very interested in OSU.

Now nobody is saying that Washington is a B level recruit, maybe the staff hasn't had a chance to evaluate him yet. But maybe they do like others better, and they feel comfortable offering Washington later because of their current standing with him, so they can take a shot at others who they have ranked higher. That's usually how it works.

Then why offer Deonte? I don't know....maybe it's just me. When you boil it down though, we need WR's big time next year. I just don't understand why you would turn away a 4 star WR (the top in his state) who grew up a big Buckeye fan, and who IMO would like to be a Buckeye. We may wait on guys we "think" we have a chance with, only to see them verbal elsewhere and leave us high and dry. I kind of think think this is the same thing that happened with a few OL the last few years.
