WR Taurian Washington (official thread)

I met Taurian last year (he was one of my patients). A personable, yet soft spoken young man. It was exciting to me because he and his father told us that he would be a buckeye - this was about 2 weeks before he officially announced. I look forward to seeing him on the field.

Small Out

So with Ray Small out temporarily with an ankle sprain looks like TWash and Devon Torrence will get a chance to play that position.

Torrence's 40 time was faster out of high school and from the news articles it looks like Torrence will play for Small while he's out.

Does anyone have different or more information?

The Great Dane (Sanzenbacher) is listed as the #3 receiver at the moment taking Smalls spot. Taurian will probably be backing up Robo at the split side. Ray plays a slot position so it makes more sense for Dane to be in there, although from all accounts Taurian will see the field.

Going into Spring the glass is always half empty, until it can be proven to be filled. Robo had a very nice year but not the focus of Defense with Ginn and Gonzo. With Ginn out of BCS game no one stepped up. No insider information but think that Washington is going to be a starter. It always seems like those 3 star kids that no one talks about coming in Hawk, Jenkins surprise us. I am really hoping that Dukes and Lyons can step up but would be shocked since they could not beat out Hall and Small as a freshman. I see more 2002 football with Robo and Hartline reminding us of Jenkins just keeping the chains moving.

I posted this in the 07 WR thread and still believe in Washington I mean Twash!! May not start the first couple games but look out.

Freshmen Impressing: The Ohio State freshman class is making a very favorable impression on the coaching staff. So much so that it looks like more than half of that class could contribute this season.
Wide receiver Dane Sanzenbacher is currently working with the first unit as the slot receiver, the position vacated by Anthony Gonzalez. OSU Head Coach Jim Tressel listed the other freshmen who look like they have a chance to play.
"Cameron Hayward has stood out the whole time he's been here," said Tressel, and that's good news for the Buckeyes who are looking for interior defensive linemen this fall.
"I think he played very well. Those freshman wide outs have done well (Sanzenbacher and Taurian Washington).

Lofty Comparisons

dispatch
Schoenhoft, a third-year sophomore from Cincinnati, then was asked whether freshman receiver Taurian Washington resembles anyone else he knows.

"Mario Manningham," he said, referring to the Michigan junior from Warren. "I played with Mario in the Big 33 game, and I've never seen anybody catch a deep ball better, other than Teddy (Ginn). But I think Taurian catches the deep ball better than anyone I've seen in a while."
