WR Santonio Holmes (Super Bowl XLIII MVP)

of receivers in the NFL have speed and hands. The only thing that makes up for his size is his flawless route running, and that only goes so far.

The NFL is going to love him for 2 reasons. He's a deep threat, and he's very elusive and dangerous in the open field. Troy Williamson wasn't as good as Santonio last year, yet went top 10 to the Vikings because he was a good deep threat and did well at the combines. Santonio can not only get open and catch passes, but he can elude defenders and take the ball into the endzone where most bigger 6'3 type guys couldn't do that.

It's no secret in the NFL this season that the guys having the most success are smaller. Santana Moss, Steve Smith, Terry Glenn, Joey Galloway, Derrick Mason, Marvin Williams.

Yeah, in college. I'm pretty sure Ed Reed, Champ Bailey, Darren Sharper, and Roy Williams can tackle a little bit better than the Minnesota DBs. You can't expect a player to dominate in the NFL just because he can dominate at the college level.

I'm not in any way trying to take anything away from Santonio. He is a special talent and will have a great career in the NFL. I just don't think that he'll be drafted in the top 10, and the scarlett glasses everyone's wearing seem to be getting in the way of realizing the fact that just because he goes to Ohio State, doesn't automatically mean that he'll go to the next level and tear shit up. It just all depends on where he goes and how that team decides to use him.

Marvin Williams? The tarheel? He's like 6'9" and in a totally different sport..

It seems to me that success in the NFL will come if you are in the right system.. For example, if Holmes was taken by the Colts and got to play with Peyton Manning, he'd be tearing stuff up and taking over for Harrison. I also think that if he were on Kansas City under a Vermeil offense that he would put up some numbers..

The fact that Gabe Watson is on that list at all makes it a joke.

I'm also not sold on Leinart as a good pro. He is surrounded by enough talent that I could be a second day pick in that offense. Hell, USC's back up QBs get drafted. I guess we'll see. There is no denying that he cost himself some serious money by coming back for his senior year. Depending on how the horrible NFL teams finish out the season he may drop out of the top 5.

Maybe he meant Roy Williams or Mike Williams from the Lions, they're both smallish receivers...around 6'3 -6'4 and 220 pounds.

Actually I meant Marvin Harrison from the Colts:tongue2:

I agree. He'll be first round no doubt, I'm not sure where in the first he'll go. He very well could go top 10, but I just don't think it'll happen.

first of all, SI may be a good magazine and have some good articles, but it is a joke when it comes to making predictions. And that Top 10 list is a perfect example to prove it. AJ Hawk not in the list, Holmes is probably more like a 15-25 draft pick, and there are some other guys in there that shouldnt be. Hawk in my mind is a top 5 pick, and i think that Holmes will go to the Philadelphia Eagles.

I would compare Santonio Holmes to Santana Moss. Both smaller, but very quick and sure-handed WRs that can make exploding plays and juke defenders out of their socks. Hell, even their first names are only a couple of vowels different.

Holmes has some intangibles that set him apart as well. His intelligence and unselfishness will go along way in the eyes of NFL teams come draft day. I would love to see Carpenter or Hawk there when my Bengals pick but it doesn't look likely with the way the Bengals are playing right now.

I don't know how many of you were watching the post game stuff on ABC.

Clay Hall talked to Holmes on the field. The Buckeye fans in the crowd were chanting "ONE MORE YEAR!!" at Holmes. Clay asked him about it and Santonio left the window open to comeback by saying he's not really sure yet and there is a chance he'd be back next year.

I'm not an NFL guru so I have no idea where he'll be drafted but here's my .02.

The one thing no one talks about is his blocking. He's an absolutely tremendous down field blocker. BIG plus for him.

Speaking of blocking the pro Holmes seems most like to me happens to be the most underrated WR in the NFL....Hines Ward. The guy(Ward and Holmes) is just a tough as nails football player who is absolutely committed to his teammates and winning.

I'll take as many Hines Ward's and Santonio Holmes's as I can get on my team thank you very much.

any NFL team would love to get Holmes on their team. But I see a lot of them overlooking him because of his height, and who ever he goes to (for me, hopefully the Eagles) will give him a chance to prove himself a great player.
