Brush and Ohio State graduate Roy Hall talks to players at his DRIVEN Foundation Football Camp.
LYNDHURST One of Brush?s favorite sons returned this past weekend. Roy Hall had his third annual DRIVEN Foundation Football Camp.
The camp consisted of a seven-on-seven tournament with his alma mater Brush, along with Shaker Heights, Warrensville Heights, Shaw and Akron East.
Shaw defeated Warrensville Heights and received $1,000 ($500 from the DRIVEN Foundation and $500 from the NFL) for its football program. Warrensville Heights received $500 ($250 from the DRIVEN Foundation and $250 from the NFL) as well.
?I have the opportunity to come back and help young people realize their dream,? Hall said. ?It?s not just about football. We talk about life and helping in the long run. I try to get them to recognize how important education is.?
The DRIVEN Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to providing a continuum of educational programming along with support services to under-served populations throughout central Ohio and its surrounding cities. Visit drivenfoundation.org for more information.
Hall played wide receiver for Ohio State after graduating from Brush. He also spent three years playing for the Indianapolis Colts after they made him a fifth-round draft choice in the 2007 draft. He was last on the roster of the New Orleans Saints before being released with an injury settlement.
Hall said he?d love to have a chance to play for the Browns.
?I called Robo (Brian Robiskie),? Hall said. ?We?re pretty close. I?ve enjoyed watching him blossom into a great receiver.?
Robiskie played at Chagrin Falls High School and at Ohio State with Hall.
Hall is one of the few that have been fortunate enough to be in the same locker room as Peyton Manning and Drew Brees.
?When you play with greats, you become great,? Hall said. ?They?re workaholics and leaders. It?s contagious. You want to do what they say.?
