WR/RB Lamaar "Flash" Thomas (transfer to New Mexico)

Yes but if Lamaar was to jump someone, it would be a slot guy before it would be an outside receiver. That's all I was saying.

In any case I hope Lamaar gets more snaps! Who knows maybe they were going to expand his package from the Indiana game, but due to only having the ball for a quarter didn't have sufficient time to put it in.

Agreed. He is a slot receiver who should take the place of Ray Small. However, expect a real battle between Lamaar and James Jackson for that spot next year.

I just having a sneaking suspicion that Lamaar's coming out party maybe against Michigan. It's the game where JT tends to reserve some of his best talent for.

From what I hear, Chris Fields is the freshman other than Duron who is really impressing at wide receiver. JT is a very happy man that he got to redshirt him.

I think the WR situation next year will work out to have Posey, Duron, Sanz, and Flash. I had such high hopes for Taurian.

Yes, that is a great haul of receivers. I too have been hearing great things about Chris Fields, but James may be a tad quicker and could really stretch the field. To add to that we have James Louis and Corey Brown who are solid receivers and then there is Tyrone Williams, who at 6-5/185 can be a real presence. I wouldn't be surprised if these guys don't push the guys ahead of them as true freshmen. next year.

Don't forget Grant Swartz.

...might want to start moving this great convo to the WR discussion thread. But yes, we will have litany of great WR talents on the roster in coming years. And what's great about them all is that they all have unique things that they bring to the table. Duron has the best hands, Posey the best big play ability, Sanz the best hole finder, Flash the fastest, Corey Brown the shiftiest, Fields the field stretcher (no pun intended), WIlliams the redzone threat. And if Louis sticks, he reads "Santonio Holmes" to me.

And a bit about Tyrone. He is now 6-5 and 205, and is faster since he recovered from injury.

EDIT: And that was forgetting James Jackson. And if Taurian breaks out of his slump, he and Posey would be nightmares to cover. Terrelle's advancements next year might mean that these guys all become household names before long.

Flash has come so close to getting his first TD...the Indiana game he was inches from a TD grab and he'll find some room on the kickoffs.

Everything I've heard is that he's still learning how to play the WR position as a WR and not a running back. I'm just hoping in the meantime they could maybe work him in on some misdirections or screens or something where he can run upfield with the ball.

We can only hope the coaching staff will utilize his athleticism in some sort of way.

That near TD grab you talk about was not the best throw from Terrelle. It was more like Flash was inches away from a concussion.

It's football, it happens. Everyone remembers Troy getting Ray Small knocked the fuck out.

I'm just saying he's close to finally getting something to build from and when he finally scores I think it'll be a big help for that.

Hate to be a buzzkill, as I am usually the untempered enthusiast, but I'll get excited about a receiving corps when the offense isn't averaging 166 yards a game passing. Nobody was open last game other than Posey occasionally.

Our receiving core is definately a bit overrated by the general fan.....combine the fact that Flash would be better suited being utilized in a combo role (backfield/slot) than a straight receiver and let Flash's and our frustration begin. Flash as well as Ray Small would be tremendous players as options motioned into the backfield, but it just doesn't seem to happen. Can you imagine Ray Small in UF's offense? Do you think he;d be a straight reciever, or would he b motioned into the backfield, and cross the quarterback for gives and misdirections?

Again, this offense has the talent to do amazing things, I'm just not sure we still arent trying to fit a square peg in a round hole in regards to our offensive dynamic and schemes.

Flash is going to break away for a TD this weekend... he is due.

If you mean as a kick returner....maybe; as a WR.....no. TP is still going through the progression before he can really spread the ball around. His primary targets have been Posey followed by Sanzenbacher.......he hasn't gone to Duron a whole lot. So it is hard to see Lamaar getting the ball just yet. However, I would love to see him on a reverse.....he could leave people in the dust.

I dont know why but I have a feeling we'll see some reverses, and jet sweeps to LT during the scUM (PSU or Iowa) game. Seems like a couple times this year JT has been setting it up.
