WR/RB Lamaar "Flash" Thomas (transfer to New Mexico)

At the AA combine, he measured in at 5'10.5 - 171.2 lbs with a 72.5" wingspan and a 31" vertical. He ran a pretty good 40 (for the AA combine) at 4.53 which was tied for 16th fastest with 6 others participants, but his shuttle was a little slow at 4.31 which was tied with 4 other for 42nd fastest. I think his reported 4.3 speed is a off, but overall, he sounds like a nice prospect.

Looks like a great 2008 prospect. He goes to the same school that Joe Haden (2007 Gator signee) and Josh Haden (2008 prospect) went and go to. Josh Haden is favoring Florida right now since his brother goes there. But Thomas seems to have a great size/speed combination.

Rivals $

5/10

Rutgers, North Carolina, Virginia Tech and Florida have offered. USC may also be close to offering. Names Illinois, Maryland, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Boston College as some favorites.

Seems like this ship is starting to sail...

Athlete of the Week: Lamaar Thomas
At the county track championships Saturday at Northwestern High, Friendly High junior Lamaar Thomas broke one of the meet’s longest-standing records, winning the 100-meter dash in 10.55 seconds. The previous mark was 10.61, set in 1976 by Northwestern’s Kendrick Higgins. Thomas, a junior, won the 200 (21.63) and placed sixth in the long jump (21 feet, 4.5 inches). He’s the first Friendly athlete to win the boys’ 100 and 200 titles at the county outdoor meet since Byron Stewart in 1974.
