WR Ray Small (official thread)

Wow, so that is 6 of his former teammates on the Buckeyes. Hard for any school to compete with that.

I still maintain he ends up at USC. Here is a link to his performance at the Virginia Tech NIKE camp.

http://rivals100.rivals.com/cpevent.asp?Key=6411

Height: 5-foot-10.5
Weight: 173 pounds
40-yard dash: 4.45 seconds
Shuttle speed: 3.96
Bench press: 7 reps
Vertical leap: 31.6 inches

That shuttle time is excellent. That 40 yard dash was also timed electronically. The only that that doesn't look good is that bench press. 7 ain't much. However, with that height, weight, 40 time, and shuttle time I say "ideal cornerback". Kid could make a great cornerback.

I also beleive that small will be a buckeye in the end... think about it, he looked up to most of the guys from glenville that go to Ohio State, and with them recruiting him too, I think it will pretty hard to say no with that and all of the other factors going our way.

His video interview sounds a lot like he is leaning towards the buckeyes, but is very interested in checking out USC first.

From Duane's recent chat (BN $): TG Sr. was "coming around to that thinking" that Small will be a WR in college.

The kid can play. He'd be a great asset on both sides of the ball.

looking at the rivals top 100 which came out today, i noticed that neither raymond small or rob rose made it on the list. both were part of the pre-evalution top 100. how is it possible that they dropped fromt he top 100 if they havent played a game in months? has either one of them had poor performacnces at any nike camps?

I really wouldn't worry about what this list says. Small and Rose both deserve to be on there and it doesn't reflect anything about how good they are because they aren't on there.

Might have been the angle in a picture that I was looking at, but Small looked to be taller than Fred Lenix who is said to be a legit 5'11-6'0.
If anyone remembers the Army All American High School game there was a stud by the name of Desean Jackson who out played both Pat Turner and Fred Rouse at WR, and he was only 5'11. Jackson was also ranked as the number 18 overall prospect 3rd overall reciever and a 5 star recruit, so I really think the height excuse is just wordplay until they get more film on Ray Small who I feel should be at least a T50 talent.
