I can "honestly" say that because there is no indication that Vick has the discipline necessary to be an effective passer over the course of a 16 game season. I have 3 years of history to base that on...you are basing your assumptions on the results of one game, apparently. I don't know how you can "honestly" say Jenkins is Vick's #1 target after one long pass and 3 catches, given Vick's history of running and throwing to Crumpler all the time. He might be...but they thought Peerless Price would be too. Heck, Madden said last night he thought Vick had the most confidence in Finneran...with Vick it's just hard to tell, especially after one game.
As I said previously, Vick played decent last night while the coaches were able to call enough running plays for the backs and he was able to play with a lead. We'll see what happens when Carolina's front 4 are chasing him all over the place every play and the Falcons get down by 10 or so. I also said I thought Vick could turn into a good QB if he gets the right advice like McNabb got...Donovan and his coaches molded him into a complete QB, still capable of running but also being accurate in the passing game and not forcing the ball as much as he used to downfield, and also to hit the outlet receivers instead of trying to run all the time. Culpepper has done the same...the jury is still out on him, though he detonated the NFL last year. If Vick gets such help, maybe he will too. If he doesn't, and the Falcons' people think the current Vick sells tickets and that's how they want him to stay...he won't. His accuracy as a passer won't get much better if he and his coaches don't make it a priority to work on it...we'll see.
I think Jenkins is a hell of a reciever...I am not sold that he is in a system that will best utilize his (or any receiver's) talents. Time will tell.
