Based on what both Smith and Day said Monday, however, all signs are pointing toward Ohio State’s superstar wide receiver being back on the field for Saturday’s highly anticipated rivalry game in Ann Arbor – a game he has promised he “will not lose” for the rest of his career.
“I’m not a sore loser, but I hate losing, and losing to that team up north was pretty crazy. In the end, I think it really helped us play the way we did in the playoffs. But I didn’t want to go to Ohio State and lose to that team up north,” Smith told The Athletic in June. “I just hate them. Just something about them. For the next two years, I promise you, I will not lose to them. I can’t lose to them in the next two years.”

I agree with those who have said he’s wearing some type of wrap under his clothes.
I’ve wondered if it could be tied to the rough landing he had on the end around against Illinois. It was a really awkward fall that put tons of stress on his lower back.
I know he didn’t start missing games until weeks after, but I think it may have been lingering and he was playing through it to put a stamp on season and ensure a playoff appearance for team. Once that was locked up, they out him on shelf to heal as much as possible before we hit this stretch of season. JMO.
