Issue date: 2/24/09 Section: Sports
PrintEmail Article Tools Page 1 of 1 Speed is the name of the game as Ohio State plucks another recruit from that school up north.
James Jackson, a native of Grand Ledge, Michigan, will bring his 4.31-second 40-yard dash to the Scarlet and Gray receiving core.
"He's one of the fastest players in the country," said Bryan Snow, recruiting analyst for rivals.com. "He's a great track athlete as well as a football athlete. His speed really shows on tape."

Running for Grand Ledge High School, Jackson's speed carries from track to turf, and vice versa. Jackson is the state 100-meter sprint champion and holds the state record for the 60-meter at 6.7 seconds.
After verbally committing during his junior year, Jackson posted 1,500 all-purpose yards in his senior season, including 48 catches for 598 yards and eight touchdowns.
"When you get him in space, good things are going to happen," Snow said.

was the nation's #1 ranked prep sprinter in the 60-meter dash in 2005 ... won the 60m at the Nike Indoor National Championship in 6.64 seconds, which ranks as the fourth fastest ever run by a high school athlete in the event ...
10. Darius Heyward-Bey?He ran a best of 6.82 in the 60-meter indoor dash as a senior in high school. He?s clearly one of the fastest players in the country.

I really like all of this newly acquired speed from the 09 class. Jackson, Fields, Berry, and Clarke are all legit 4.40 and under. At least 2 of those guys could see early PT.
I've been told that James is set to graduate this week. Congrats to James! Here is to a successful start at OSU!

Roger Goodell;1416940; said:James is a straight line burner but not as agile as Flash.
Tresselbeliever;1418931; said:If this kid played HS ball in Florida people would be clamoring about his southern speed and he'd probably be a top fifty player in the nation.
