WR Grant Schwartz (official thread)

Forget the bananas, the babies are getting into it now. (this is like one of those wedding receptions that takes forever to start, and so in the meantime everyone gets plastered and dances like fools while they wait)

In fairness to Duane, he has backed off his earlier position (Schwartz has no offers, ergo not good) somewhat. He now is saying that he doesn't like the offer because of the number of safeties on the roster, not because of the quality of the recruit offered. He hasn't yet stated to my knowledge that Schwartz is offer worthy, only that his objection to the offer isn't based on Schwartz's ability.

I simply love Grant's versatility...he could play any number of positions at OSU and I think that is why he got offered. He fits into the JT recruiting scheme perfectly.

Not sure BN27. BTW, Duane also feels that we should have 15-20 OL on the roster, which many disagree with. His rationale for not offering Grant is that we have lots of great safeties in Ohio next year. I think that's a bad reason to not open up doors in Cali, and hten see who wants to come play for the home state next year.

What safeties do we have legit shots at next year anyways? Clifford looks like a scUM lean. I know we probably lead for Gamble, but he could just as easily be a RB. Dailey looks like a LB. Sturdivant will most likely be a CB, but could play S. Hines will most likely be a LB. Pentello may end up at S. I can't figure out too many more at this point, and most of those guys, like Grant, are versatile enough to play several positions.

We're losing Salley and (former safety) Everett after this year, Whitner and Mitchell the next. Beyond them, the only one with much experience at all is O'Neal, and he's still really young. Hey Duane, we'll still have plenty of room for safeties next year if we take Grant this year.

he's been told that many times, and he seems to ignore it and then a few posts later post "oh no more than 8 safeties" again. It's pretty obvious this kid is talented, gives us Cali roots for recruiting, and looks like a pretty good backup option at QB (esp if Henton's grades were to ever plummet, or if he didn't pan out).
