There are signs that Ohio State's coaching staff wants to see more than just improved grades from receiver Duron Carter at Coffeyville Community College; it also wants to see an improved attitude. Even after Carter became academically ineligible at Ohio State, his study habits and class attendance didn't improve much.
Carter might return to Ohio State with two years' eligibility remaining, as his father, Cris, has suggested, but word is that Buckeyes coaches want to see Duron take his responsibilities more seriously before they welcome him back.
http://okblitz.com/videos.aspx?cid=23155"I messed up. It's my last chance," Carter says.
A freshman not adjusting to the demands of college life certainly isn't unusual, and every football program, Ohio State included, has some players coming in from either less challenging high school academic environments or without the full family support that can help an 18-year-old adjust to college. But that wasn't the case with Carter, the son of former Ohio State and NFL star Cris Carter. So Duron did this to himself, and as this video shows, he knows it. The good news for Ohio State fans is he wants to come back.

It shows we mean business. No nepotism nonsense - JT walks the walk. Even though I am sad for Duron, I am extremely proud of JT and his staff for upholding the standards that define a great program.

Book May Not Be Closed on Carter
By Brandon Castel
COLUMBUS ? Duron Carter won?t be on the field when Ohio State opens fall camp Aug. 5; in fact, he won?t be on the field at all for the Buckeyes this fall.
The son of former OSU All-American Cris Carter lasted only one season in Columbus before academic issues forced him into a transfer this off-season. With the help of his dad, he landed at Coffeyville Community College in Kansas, effectively ended the first chapter of Carter?s collegiate playing career.
But did it close the book on the young wide receiver?s career in Scarlet and Gray?
?I?m sure he would love to come back,? said Darrell Hazell, Carter?s position coach at Ohio State.
?But obviously he?s got a lot of work to do and I think he needs to concentrate on a day-to-day deal to make sure he?s able to do that.?
Duron Carter, son of former Vikings star wide receiver Cris Carter, enrolled at Ohio State as a freshman, played some and then left school. Cris Carter said his son is interested in Minnesota. However, he will likely enroll first at Coffeyville Community College in Kansas to get his grades in shape.

Interview between The Bank & Cris Carter....Duron has finished his summer courses and came away with 3 A's & 1 B. Duron keeps weekly contact with Coach Hazell and is also receiving interest from Oregon, USC, Florida and others. Despite attention from other schools, Duron still plans to return to Ohio State in June of 2011.
