WR Duron Carter (Official Thread)

I feel kind of salty he is out looking around.. I know I shouldn't bug me at all, but, it rubs me the wrong way.

Well yea because he should be focused on getting his butt back where it needs to be. If he is seriously considering not coming back then go ahead and take your visits to find where you need to be but if you are just yanking other schools around for no reason when you could be studying then I don't get it. Maybe if it was a different kid I'd understand more but he's shown his immaturity many times already.

If he's coming back here, he needs to start showing that commitment to the program.

I mean I'm 19 too. I know that if I was lucky enough to play football at Ohio State and I had already made multiple mistakes, my mind would be focused solely on doing the things I need to do to get back. Not on going to other teams football games. I'd be working my ass off on the field and in the classroom.

At this point I'd love to see Duron back in Scarlet n' Gray, but from his standpoint our depth at WR is a bit daunting to any young player. Philly Brown, and Chris Fields have shown their potential and their stability on and off the field so far. I understand most won't see this as a dilemma considering he has the potential, but then again he has to climb a mountain to get back to where he was with Tressel and I'm sure the teammates as well.

Good luck Duron, I hope to see you with the Bucks next year, but if not good luck where ever you land. Except for Michigan, if that happens I'll go ape shit.

But you are talking about a kid that knows the feeling of being second-third string at a school where he is expected to play up to his fathers legacy. Im sure Montana's son is feeling the same pressure at ND. Its much easier to fail at another school because there wont be the same love-lost situation for the entire town.

If he's being offered starting positions at a large school with less pressure, its hard to look away from that.

Well, the dude was starting as a Freshman.. he was well on his way to living up to the legacy until grades slipped.. blah. Truly a shame.. hopefully he gets back on track wheter it's here or somewhere else.

I wouldn't go that far. He has the hands, but his routes were still raw. For the "starter" you like to note him as, he only had 13 recptions, 176 yards, and a single TD. He has had 0 catches against: USC, Wisconsin, Penn St, and Michigan. He didn't play in the Rose Bowl and only had one catch against Iowa.

I would say he was from from "being on his way to living up to the lagacy" of his father.

Oh and by the way, maintaining grades are as big a part of being a student-athlete as performing on the field. Im not bashing the kid at all, he has talent, just needs to put it all together. Also, its much easier to "save face" after an embarassment by going to another school and getting a fresh start then coming back to big expectations.

A true freshman coming in and taking the 3rd receiver spot is impressive. He was on his way...unfortunately hi sgrades dropped, but he was given the opportunity to earn his way back onto the team with a good summer school session, and it didn't happen. How he refocuses or gets himself together is his business, but it was certainly head-scratching when he wasn't able to get his grades in order this off-season.

Wherever he goes, they're getting a major talent. He's a complete receiver. Even in 13 catches and limited time, it was easy to see. His downfield blocking, hands, route running as a fresh....all exceptional for a true frosh.

Hope he makes his way back to Columbus...we could definately use him next year. Think he'd prob be our #1.

I agree we could really use him this year and next, but Im careful to annoint him the next big thing. I see people throwing tags like these to recruits -"Oh, he's the next David Boston/T Smith/AJ Hawk", etc. It happens with just about every prolific recruit, and the percentage of that panning out is less than 50%, and Im sorry but Carter is no different. I also don't look that "his grades just dropped." His grades didnt drop, HE didn't devote himself to being a student first, then as an athelete.

I hope to see him back on oursideline, but if/when he does come back he will have to prove himself on the field before he is given any titles of greatness.

Carter visiting OU

It's been widely thought that once Duron Carter had his grades back in order the Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College wide receiver would be headed back to Ohio State this summer.

However, that may not be a done deal. Carter is visiting Oklahoma this weekend when the Sooners play Air Force in Norman. It is Coffeyville's bye week.

Carter, the son of NFL great Cris Carter, is a St. Thomas Aquinas grad. He has helped Coffeyville get out to a 3-0 start and a No. 7 ranking nationally, catching seven TD passes.

"The only visit I set up so far is OU," Carter told me this week.

In this past Saturday's 31-2 victory over Garden City, Carter caught five passes for 82 yards, including a 48-yard TD pass.

Then fucking go is my advice to him. Don't fuck around with Ohio State more than you already have. Like I said in my post, if he isn't coming back then I don't care what he does. But if he plans on coming back then he should be focused on that goal and getting his shit done in school not wasting time going to some "free" games. To me that shows none of the dedication to Ohio State's program and to getting his life back together that should be required. Ohio State owes nothing to Duron Carter, he's been the immature one that is causing the problems.

There will be no love lost because if he comes back and plays football like we know he has the capability to and gets his mind right then he's gonna be a great player for us. I'm just not seeing any maturity from the kid and he's had multiple chances. I'm not ready to take another chance and be let down again by Duron so I hope he really does some growing up if he plans on coming back to OSU.

I really hope that he comes back. He posted on his Twitter 4 days ago "buck the u" so he's still a buckeye. I know his sister is coming to tOSU, and his dad said he will be back. If Posey leaves Duron will be the number 1 receiver next year so we need him.
