WR Devin Smith (National Champion)

but

ANY alcohol on a Sunday morning @ 8:30AM ?!?!? :shake:

Closing time at the bar is probably between 1 to 2:00AM, crash on somebodies couch, sleep five hours, and wake up the next morning having someplace to be?

I won't blame Devin, because glass houses and such. He's 22, was under the legal limit, and off campus during the off-season.

Plus, he's safe and was able to walk away from the accident by all accounts. That's important, and not even for football reasons. Glad the kid is OK.

Above all, glad to see Devin walked away in good health...he is a very genuinely good kid and it would have been awful to see anything happen to him. And secondly, it is good that he was below the legal limit. As has been said before, likely had a little alcohol left in his system from the night before.

Smith Accident Report Released

Jackson Township has finally released the accident report from Devin Smith’s crash on June 29.

(See the report here.)

According to the report, the Buckeye wide receiver was driving his father’s Pontiac Grand AM, when he drove off the right side of a curving road. He then struck a utility pole. His car overturned. He hit a mailbox. The car was totaled.

This happened around 8:30 in the morning.

Smith was being treated in the back of an ambulance when police began to question him. He said he was adhering to the 45 mile-an-hour speed limit when he drove off the road. He also told police he had not been drinking, but had been “standing by someone who was.” When pressed, he then admitted he had drunk a couple of beers. However, he maintained he stopped drinking around 1:00 a.m.

Cont'd ...

Devin Smith listed as second string.???? All HE does is catch touchdowns. Michael Thomas has the potential to be a very good even great receiver. Has he done enough to move past Smith?? A consistent deep threat. Saturday could be interesting, though I'm sure Devin will receive his fair share of snaps .

Michael Thomas is an excellent blocker, has good hands as a possession receiver, runs clean routes, and is large and still very fast. Devin Smith catches deep balls. He also had 2-3 drops Saturday. Devin is still going to get A LOT of play but the move of Thomas to the number 1 is pretty important for the offense.
