WR Dane Sanzenbacher (Official Thread)

Starting quarterback Todd Boeckman did not throw any touchdowns or interceptions. He reportedly had a long pass to Dane Sanzenbacher that set up a touchdown run by redshirt freshman tailback Boom Herron.

“Our receivers played well today. They’ve been doing great. Dane Sanzenbacher, DeVier Posey, those are guys who have been playing pretty well. It will be exciting to see how our offense evolves and who they will use because we have a lot of weapons.”

Tressel talked about some of the play makers on offense.
"Dane Sanzenbacher jumps out at me," Tressel said. "He made some very impressive plays. Brian Hartline did as well. Boom Herron was probably the leading ball carrier, although Mo Wells looked pretty solid. We wanted to see Boom run it a lot because he's going to be a contributor.

Good to hear he's stepping it up. Long ball to Dane. Gee I thought he was a possession receiver. Good news as Aug 30 approaches. It would be nice to see him live catching a few long balls this year. Can't wait for this offense to run onto the field this year. Getting pumped

very nice twist on the example Chiksika used when talking to his young brother Techumseh about the encroaching whites and what the red men needed to do to drive the whites out of Shawnee lands. in fact, Techumseh took the lesson so much to heart that when he went on his journeys to other tribes trying to rally ALL red men together and forget intertribal differences in order to banish the whites, he gave a bundle of thirty red sticks to each village he visited. at the given signal of a very violent earthquake (which is amazing on its own: the giant quake, which actually cased the Mississippi to run backwards for a year, occurred pretty much precisely as Techumseh said it would) each tribe was to break one stick a day, and the great battle would commence on the day the last stick was broken. unfortunately,Techumseh's younger brother Louwalouasika ("He Makes a Loud Noise"), the self-proclaimed Prophet, blew the whole plan by making his move too early. anyway, the upshot of that story is that there was a certain Chicasaw sect down in the bayous of Louisiana that took Techumseh's message so much to heart that they renamed themselves the Red Sticks, and that village just so happened to reside the in the very place where Louisiana State University is now located...

sorry, had a Paul Harvey moment.

Anyone catch this piece about the WR's? Those words by Malcolm Jenkins about Dane getting the best of him speaks volumes.

"Dane Sanzenbacher jumps out at me, made some very impressive plays," said OSU Head Coach Jim Tressel after yesterday's Jersey Scrimmage.
According to defensive back Malcolm Jenkins, who practices regularly against the OSU receiving corps, Sanzenbacher is really, really tough on defensive backs. He has good speed but what really sets him apart is his savvy as a receiver.
"It's usually me going against Robo or Brian Hartline or Dane Sanzenbacher. Dane is probably the guy who gets the best of me out of all of them," said Jenkins.
"He's smooth. He has great releases, great hands, he makes plays.
"If I had to compare him to somebody it would be Gonzo. I think he's real talented and a lot of people are going to be surprised by him this year," said Jenkins.
OSU senior quarterback Todd Boeckman shares Jenkins' view of Sanzenbacher.
"He runs great routes," said Boeckman.
"He's one of the best route-runners on the team. He has great hands and is getting better each and every day, knowing the system better every day. I'm excited at where he's at right now.
"He had a big play today (in the Jersey Scrimmage) over Malcolm. If you run great routes you're going to get yourself open and make plays. Gonzo always ran great routes," Boeckman said.

Ohio State sophomore receiver Dane Sanzenbacher moving up on depth chart

Tuesday, August 19, 2008 Doug Lesmerises
Plain Dealer Reporter

Columbus- Sophomore receiver Dane Sanzenbacher is the star of camp. Ohio State coach Jim Tressel can't stop talking about him, so it was no surprise when Sanzenbacher was working as the No. 3 receiver with the first-team offense, ahead of Ray Small, during Monday's public prac- tice.
"Dane from a functional standpoint, techniquewise, has studied the game," Tressel said. "He's no longer a guy trying to learn the plays, he's trying to learn how to beat you. He's jumped up."
While senior cornerback Malcolm Jenkins usually takes on veteran receivers Brian Robiskie or Brian Hartline in practice, he admitted after Saturday's scrimmage that Sanzenbacher is his toughest matchup.

Lead, Follow, or get out of the way...looks like hes a leader. Good Luck Dane!!!

"Lead, Follow, or get out of the way." - That was my AF Basic Training Squadrons slogan.

Anyways, good job Dane. Always nice to see great receivers coming along, since we have two leaving after this season (Robo & Hartline).

"Last year, there was just so much to learn, so much to absorb when you first come in here as a freshman," he said. "Now I am familiar with how we do things and the expectations, so your focus can be more on trying to make plays, and improving a little bit every day."

Honing his craft. Dane, let's hope that your lead will help the others improve the same. Can't wait to see this team on the field on the 30th.

Go Bucks :oh:

Around the Oval - An unofficial Ohio State Buckeyes blog

The top two wide receivers who did practice were undoubtedly Brian Hartline and Dane Sanzenbacher. Hartline appears to have taken his game to the next step, and Sanzenbacher made the best highlight play of everyone, completely burning Donald Washington on 10 yard out-route in the endzone. The top three receivers with Robiskie out of action were (in order): Hartline, Sanzo, Ray Small.

Way to go...save some for Aug 30.

Malcolm Jenkins said following the Jersey scrimmage that the one receiver who gave him the most trouble was Dane Sanzenbacher. This wasn't the case during practice, where MJ shut down Sanzo before nabbing a one-handed interception.

Working against MJ isn't a walk in the park.
