WR Dane Sanzenbacher (Official Thread)

Glad to hear that Dane is playing well so far in camp. Just two more weeks.

Found this story in the-Ozone

Freshmen Impressing: The Ohio State freshman class is making a very favorable impression on the coaching staff. So much so that it looks like more than half of that class could contribute this season.
Wide receiver Dane Sanzenbacher is currently working with the first unit as the slot receiver, the position vacated by Anthony Gonzalez. OSU Head Coach Jim Tressel listed the other freshmen who look like they have a chance to play.
"Cameron Hayward has stood out the whole time he's been here," said Tressel, and that's good news for the Buckeyes who are looking for interior defensive linemen this fall.
"I think he played very well. Those freshman wide outs have done well (Sanzenbacher and Taurian Washington).

Bet Heavy on that Horse!

Schoenhoft seems to recognize talent when he sees it. Sanzenbacher can be a one man recking crew. I have seen him total take over games on the high school level. I see no reason he can not make a smooth trasnition for the Bucks. Look for great things from this kid, he will be the next Gonzo, bet on it!

Go Bucks!!!!!!

Diamond in the Rough

This piece mentions Dane's achievements and speculation in seeing him in the three receiver set this year.

SportingNews.com Blogs

We could see him on the field in the first three reciever set of the season. All_Good_In_The_Hood will have a open practice summary.....maybe he'll have some information on the freshman(#12). There always seems to be a freshman step up.....and it's usually just like this....the one you didn't expect. Here's my current WR top to bottom list.....it is ever changing....you will notice three Frosh moving up fast.

Special Qualities

Looks like Dane will see some action, he developed in HS as someone with the ability to learn and adapt very quickly. It's good to see he's adapting to CFB level so quickly. No Surprise from my perspective.

OSU ready for the night shift; QB needs work

Freshman cracks lineup
With sophomore Ray Small sidelined with an ankle injury, true freshman Dane Sanzenbacher has become the team's third receiver behind Brian Robiskie and Brian Hartline.
"Dane has done an unbelievable job," receivers coach Darrell Hazell said. "I think what's propelled him past some other guys is he's able to learn, retain and apply. Those are his special qualities."

Holy Buckeye 2007

I can see this scene being re-enacted in 2007. Call it a premonition, wishfull thinking or maybe just shades of things to come. It's late in the fourth quarter, the offense has been on a roll all day and the outcome of the game comes down to a few final plays with just minutes left. We expect Beanie to run but instead Boeckman takes the snap and drops back to pass finding #12 open in the end zone. Game over, Bucks win.

The 2007 season start is a week away and these "premonitions" will become a reality very soon.

You could write this script for several players, passes, runs, interceptions, and kick returns. This one had huge implications in 2002. I can't wait for the 2007 version of this. This one just happend to be on YouTube.

I hope you're right and it's NOT a repeat of the 2002 Holy Buckeye. In that game, the offense was most decidedly NOT "on a roll all day".

As for what I expect: I do believe there will be times when we need big completions this year. But IMHO it will be ROBO that will be the go-to-guy. Dane, Sanzo, or whateverthehellwe'recallinghim will have big moments this year and a big career; but there are other talented receivers on the team this year. Some of them have more experience.

Not knocking him at all. Just sayin' that his biggest moments will be in 2008 and beyond.

Agreed, my enthusiam gets the best of me sometimes. I really wasn't expecting so much PR about Dane in 2007. He's under the spotlight again as he was in HS many times. It's just great to see him rise so quickly regardless of the circumstances that got him there. I prefer to see him as a part of a cohesive team and not as a bright star that fades. I agree Dane will contribute and I'd be happy to see that development evolve over the next few years.

Grandstand interview with Mr. Sanzenbacher

I attended Dane's former HS football game tonight (Toledo Central Catholic won 27 to 7 over Canton MI - yes we beat a Michigan team in Michigan!) The first play of TCC's possession was a 60 yard TD pass!

Anyway, I spoke with Dane's father who was busy shaking hands and fielding questions about his son. Dane has many fans at TCC and all seemed interested in how he's doing. At the appropriate moment, I singled him out and we talked about his son and next week's game. He said Dane will be playing in the YSU game. He said that Ray Small and Dane have similar qualities that the coaches and Todd Boeckman both appreciated. It seems that Todd likes Dane's quickness, the way he runs his routes and the way he cuts. What came as a surprise is the fact that the starting quarterback seems to have quite a bit of clout in the decision of who fill that #3 spot.

Dane has made a huge impression so far and has demonstrated his ability at this level. When Ray returns we may see more of Dane Sanzenbacher as the season unfolds. Until then ...

I personally can't wait for them to start selling #12 jerseys again...I think I'm gonna have to pick one up since I never got one for Krenzel

But anywho my golf team played a dual match against Central Catholic the other day and both the guys in my group said they knew Dane in high school and that he was a real nice, humble guy so its good to see that Dane is getting noticed and that he hasnt let the fame that he's gotten so far go to his head

I'm guessing thats pretty much what happens when Jim Tressel is the coach and you've been in the system and toed the line for 5 years. Now that he's running the offense I'd think he's earned the right to lobby for a guy or two that he thinks will help our offense.

I'm glad you never bought a #12 jersey and thought that was Craig Krenzel, Krenzel was #16. Jenkins was #12 on that same team.

Anyways go out and buy that #12 jersey, we just keep putting stars in it anyway.
