Ran a 4.72 at a NIKE combine, which is probably closer to the more accurate time (they time theirs electronically I'm pretty sure). If I recall, Jalin Marshall ran a 4.66 forty, and we all know he plays faster than that on the field. Those guys running 4.40 electronic 40's at the combine train for months specifically to get those times so low, and that's why you see so many skill guys running 4.65s in HS.

Haven't watched film of him yet, but I'm sure he plays much faster on the field. His scout profile acknowledges that while he isn't the speediest receiver, he's a really good route runner and creates separation that way, and that's really all that matters.

Im more concerned that we have a true outside wr that can run routes and get separation. We lacked that last year, as smith disappeared for a chunk of the season and outside of brown no one else was very consistent. But no one would mistake brown for a true wr. Dont really care about smiths 40 time as his role wont be of a speed mismatch

College Football's Top 15 Impact JUCO Transfers for 2013

With a 12-0 record last season and most of its core returning for 2013, the Buckeyes are among the top contenders to play for the national title. While there are some concerns about the defensive line, the offense is hoping to jumpstart a passing attack that ranked 101st nationally last year. To help take some of the pressure off of quarterback Braxton Miller, the Buckeyes are bringing in running back Dontre Wilson and Ezekiel Elliott, along with receivers James Clark and Jalin Marshall. However, perhaps the most interesting addition came through the junior college ranks. Ohio State doesn?t recruit JUCO players often, which means Smith isn?t being brought in to sit on the bench. The Ohio native caught 51 passes for 733 yards and nine touchdowns at East Mississippi Community College last year, while posting 28 receptions for 438 yards as a freshman at Grand Rapids Community College in 2011. Smith doesn?t need to emerge as Miller?s go-to threat, but he should be a valuable pickup for a team that had only two wide receivers catch more than 15 passes last year.

The article says 187, but then he gets on the scale at the end of the video & says 194 (with shoes on).......so......lol

Corey Smith will be an interesting player to watch...I think Philly and D. Smith have all but cemented the 1 and 2 outside spots, but it will be interesting to see if he can supplant/split PT with Thomas and Spencer. I doubt he will be played inside, so Hall/Fields/D. Wilson/Marshall are not his competition it seems.

I really like what Corey brings to the table but if Thomas keeps improving, this could be a fierce battle for the 4th WR spot. If Thomas gets the spot though, Corey is still going to be of great utility after Philly graduates this year.
