WR Corey "Philly" Brown (Official Thread)

Philly stake

Looking for someone who is shooting up the depth chart? Take a look at freshman Corey Brown ? the receiver.

The OSU coaching staff has resorted to calling Brown (No. 10 in your program) Philly Brown to differentiate him from Corey Brown (No. 3 in the program), otherwise known as Pittsburgh Brown. Philly Brown has thrust himself into the spotlight at receiver. With Dane Sanzenbacher out nursing an injury on Saturday, Brown played the role of No. 3 and No. 4 receiver along with Chris Fields.

"We think Philly Brown is going to be a great player," Tressel said. "Philly shows he can make plays. He'll help us this year."

Tressel said Brown and Jordan Hall might see as much if not more time returning punts than DeVier Posey and Sanzenbacher.

What about Pittsburgh Brown?

"He's getting better every day," Tressel said. "If you can have a third, fourth or even fifth corner, that's good."

COLUMBUS ? Ohio State freshman wide receiver Corey Brown has been turning heads during fall camp, and at the speed he's moving, the youngster could be causing quite a few cases of whiplash.

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound true freshman from Philadelphia is a game breaker, and he's been showing flashes of his brilliance ever since he arrived on the practice field earlier this month.

When describing Brown's abilities there seems to be a common theme ? the kid has some quicks.

"Corey Brown is fast, I can say that much," OSU senior cornerback Devon Torrence said.

"Corey Brown is fast," Buckeyes junior quarterback Terrelle Pryor added. "I call him DeSean Jackson. He's good, he's good."

I haven't seen a guy move so fast since Ted Ginn on that end around he had today. Not a long strider, he just looks like he's got an extra gear that no one else on the other team has. We're gonna have to find ways to get him the ball in some space here in the future, because that kid can move.

Philly's something special. Can't wait to see what's in store for him.
