WR Carnell Tate (Official Thread)

Pretty sure his school has a signing ceremony from 6pm to 8pm today.

Not sure if there’s anything to worry about or not….a lot of kids at least send the fax over in AM before the ceremony so not sure if there’s any stress within the WHAC or not….

Since his signing announcement tweet had a scarlet and gray Buckeye theme, why would we worry?

Carnell Tate - WR - Ohio State

One of the newest members of Zone-6, Ohio State signee Carnell Tate continued to prove that he's one of the nation’s top receiver prospects throughout Tuesday’s practice sessions in San Antonio. Measuring at 6-foot ½ and 179-pounds, Tate is arguably the smoothest receiver prospect in attendance at the All-American Bowl. With excellent short area separation ability off the line of scrimmage and at the top of the route, Tate’s wide catch radius and sticky 10 ½ inch hands make him a difficult cover for even the most talented and prototypical defensive backs. Shaking loose a handful of times on Tuesday, the only potential “knock” in Tate’s game at this point of his development is that he’ll need to add some weight and increase his play strength as he readies himself for the next level. That being said, don’t be surprised if Tate is stealing headlines in Columbus in year one of his collegiate career.

Tate was the second receiver to commit after a lengthy recruiting battle where the Buckeyes bested both Notre Dame and Tennessee. The IMG Academy product impressed during All-American Bowl practices and games and has a chance to have a big-time career in Columbus.

“Carnell, that was quite a recruiting process,” Day said. “I thought Brian and everybody did a great job there. But I think he always knew he wanted to be a Buckeye as well. He's got a chance to be an impact player for us.”
