According to the arrest report obtained by Eleven Warriors, Saunders was walking from North High Street on West Northwood Avenue at approximately 10:45 p.m. when he was detained by a Columbus Police officer enforcing the city-wide curfew. A 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew has been in place in Columbus since Saturday in response to daily protests that have taken place in the city since last week's killing of George Floyd.
“Jail was definitely not part of the plan,” Saunders joked on Wednesday after a whirlwind two days. “It was just important to me as stuff was going on and people were posting stuff, I was just wondering how I was going to show my support and make my impact. I think it was mostly because I grew up all around African Americans, especially in sports. I was exposed to everything about the culture, and some of my best friends ever before I came to Ohio State were black. Obviously when I got here, they were my teammates and my coaches and I just had so many great experiences.
STILL WAITING. Speaking of "about damn time," it's long, long past time for CJ Saunders to get a response from the NCAA about his waiver for a sixth year of eligibility, but his father has informed Eleven Warriors that it still has not come – they are *STILL* waiting on the NCAA.
At this point, it's far beyond bullshit that this has taken so long when there's so clearly one correct answer. He's a former walk-on in excellent academic standing who didn't play a single snap over the course of three separate seasons, including the most recent one due to injury.
How is this hard?
Is the NCAA ever going to get around to ruling on the sixth-year eligibility appeal for C.J. Saunders?
His appeal was just denied, NCAA says his injury did not meet their criteria for another year, so his career is over. Tough way to go out.
I think it's now at 86. Looking like Saunders may get some type of coaching internship with Ohio St. now since he is a coaches' favorite. What a joke! Probably makes the coaches job slightly easier with the team still not being at 85 to the best of my knowledge.
