WR C.J. Saunders (Official Thread)

According to the arrest report obtained by Eleven Warriors, Saunders was walking from North High Street on West Northwood Avenue at approximately 10:45 p.m. when he was detained by a Columbus Police officer enforcing the city-wide curfew. A 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew has been in place in Columbus since Saturday in response to daily protests that have taken place in the city since last week's killing of George Floyd.

“Jail was definitely not part of the plan,” Saunders joked on Wednesday after a whirlwind two days. “It was just important to me as stuff was going on and people were posting stuff, I was just wondering how I was going to show my support and make my impact. I think it was mostly because I grew up all around African Americans, especially in sports. I was exposed to everything about the culture, and some of my best friends ever before I came to Ohio State were black. Obviously when I got here, they were my teammates and my coaches and I just had so many great experiences.

LUKE FARRELL, C.J. SAUNDERS AMONG OHIO STATE'S CONFERENCE-HIGH 164 BIG TEN DISTINGUISHED SCHOLARS

For the fifth year in a row, Ohio State leads the conference in Big Ten Distinguished Scholars.

The Buckeyes had 164 athletes earn the designation as Big Ten Distinguished Scholars for the 2019-20 academic year. They smashed the previous record set last year of 131 athletes honored with the award.

Every Big Ten Distinguished Scholar must have been an Academic All-Big Ten honoree the prior academic year, enrolled in their current university for at least a year and achieved at least a 3.70 grade-point average the prior academic year, excluding summer classes.

Tight end Luke Farrell, wide receiver C.J. Saunders and combo guard Danny Hummer are among this year's honorees.

STILL WAITING.
Speaking of "about damn time," it's long, long past time for CJ Saunders to get a response from the NCAA about his waiver for a sixth year of eligibility, but his father has informed Eleven Warriors that it still has not come – they are *STILL* waiting on the NCAA.

At this point, it's far beyond bullshit that this has taken so long when there's so clearly one correct answer. He's a former walk-on in excellent academic standing who didn't play a single snap over the course of three separate seasons, including the most recent one due to injury.

How is this hard?

After the recent news on Gill, I expected this thread update to be good news for CJ.

My expectations are so low... they still manage to fall short of them

C.J. Saunders

Is the NCAA ever going to get around to ruling on the sixth-year eligibility appeal for C.J. Saunders? The clock is ticking. Nothing can ever be taken for granted with that governing body, but it’s hard to imagine there’s a case against letting a former walk-on turned captain not play after missing all of last year due to injury. Assuming Saunders gets the green light, he’s got previous experience in the role, the trust of the coaching staff and all the tools needed to thrive as a punt returner. As long as the NCAA does the right thing, Saunders will be in the mix.

Good question!!!
