Pressed against his stall in the Browns' locker room during rookie minicamp, sweat poured down the face of wide receiver Brian Robiskie.

So he did what anyone would do. He grabbed a towel and wiped it off.

And as he did so, you had to wonder if he was having any flashbacks, for grabbing a towel in the Browns locker room is something he had done numerous times before.

When his dad, Terry Robiskie, served as wide receivers coach, offensive coordinator and finally interim head coach at various times during his four-your tenure with the Browns from 2001-04, young Brian, then a budding star at Chagrin Falls High, worked for his first three years of school as a ball boy, equipment aide and anything else he was asked to do by his dad's employer.

"I see those guys walking around here now," he said. "I don't have any inclination to pick up any towels or anything. Some of the guys who were here when I was here kid around with me and ask if I'd like to come in and help a little bit, but I'll let them handle it. I have a job to do and I'm ready to do it."

Indeed. Now, as the first of three second-round picks by the Browns, at No. 36 overall, in the NFL Draft, he is back in that locker room with a much different role with the team. Let someone grab the towels, balls, shoes and anything else. Robiskie's job is to catch passes.

A dream come true.

"You imagine, you wish as a kid that you will someday make it in the NFL, but you never expect those kinds of things to happen," he said. "At the time, I was just trying to get ready to go to college and get on Ohio State's team.

"The first day we got here to get ready for camp, they were giving us a tour of the facility. The guy saw my name on my list and said, ?You don't need to be here. You could probably show me around.'

"I couldn't be more happy to be here and to be a Cleveland Brown. Everybody is excited I'm here. I'm excited to be here and try to help this team. My whole football resume is in Ohio, but I wouldn't have it any other way."

Buckeye Brians ready to take on the NFLE-mail iPod Print ShareThisPublished: Sun, May 10, 2009

Brian Hartline and Brian Robiskie signed autographs for fans at the Eastwood Mall in Niles.

NILES ? Brian Hartline and Brian Robiskie have made a career out of catching a football.

Now, the former Ohio State Buckeye wide receivers hope to catch on in the NFL.

Both were selected in last month?s NFL Draft. Robiskie was selected in the second round by the Cleveland Browns. Hartline was the fourth-round pick of the Miami Dolphins.

The rookie receivers participated in an autograph signing at the Eastwood Mall on Saturday. Many fans lined the concourse of the mall to see the former Buckeyes. Many people wore Ohio State jerseys and other apparel and brought replica helmets and photographs for autographs. The two exchanged playful banter and met with the fans, shaking hands and posing for pictures.

Hartline continuously asked ?Robo? to sign miniature helmets smaller so his signature could also fit. Robiskie countered, asking Hartline if he actually caught a ball shown in a picture.

Aside from engaging fans, the pair expressed their excitement on taking their game to the next level.

?First and foremost, I was excited to get drafted and to hear my name called,? said Robiskie, ?I couldn?t be more excited about it.?

The way we hear it, veteran WRs David Patten (ex-New Orleans) and Mike Furrey (ex-Detroit) will likely be behind rookies Brian Robiskie and Mohamed Massaquoi in the battle for playing time in Cleveland but ahead of returning reserves like Syndric Steptoe and Paul Hubbard.

? A source close to the Browns notes how prepared the club?s rookies appeared at their first minicamp, good news for a club with eight draft picks who all would seem to have a legitimate shot at making the roster.

Robiskie and Haussener win Big 10 Medal of Honor
Evan Winkofsky
Issue date: 5/22/09

Wide receiver Brian Robiskie and field hockey star Linda Haussener were awarded the prestigious Big 10 Medal of Honor Wednesday at the 42nd-annual Scholar-Athlete Dinner held at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.

The Ohio State Department of Athletics presents awards to honor student-athletes for academic and athletic accomplishments. This year a record 493 OSU scholar-athletes were recognized. Each Big Ten institution selects the top male and female athlete of the graduating class and awards them the Medal of Honor along with a $5,000 postgraduate scholarship.

The Medal of Honor award was established in 1914 and was offered to women for the first time in 1982.

Robiskie, a four-time letter winner for the Buckeyes, had 127 career receptions for 1,866 yards and scored 24 touchdowns. He also was a two-time First Team Academic All-American and a finalist for the Arthur Ashe Scholar-Athlete Award and the 2008 Draddy Trophy.

Robiskie was a second round draft pick for the Cleveland Browns and will continue his football career in the NFL.

NFL Insider: Snap impressions from the first full Mangini minicamp for the Cleveland Browns
by Tony Grossi/Plain Dealer Reporter
Saturday May 23, 2009

It's way too early to say who's the No. 2 receiver behind Braylon Edwards. But Brian Robiskie didn't hurt his chances with two TD catches from Brady Quinn in red-zone drills. Robiskie dived to make one in the left corner and caught another underneath coverage inside the goal line. Yes, Robiskie looks as polished as advertised.

In workouts, Brian Robiskie has come as advertised. He's smart, runs routes quickly, creates space to get open and shows excellent hands, especially in the end zone. The Browns have been impressed with Mohamed Massaquoi's ability to get open downfield, and think he is strong enough to handle cornerbacks who try to knock him off his routes. The Browns knew second-rounder David Veikune has speed to get around some linemen from the outside and rush the passer -- but they have liked how he's looked at inside linebacker -- he seems to have the strength to take on some guards and help clog the middle.

Robiskie Repeats As Arthur Ashe Scholar Finalist

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio State wide receiver Brian Robiskie finished as one of five male finalists for the 2009 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar of the Year award, announced by Diverse: Issues In Higher Education magazine. The first Ohio State student-athlete to become a finalist since the national awards program began 16 years ago, Robiskie was also a national finalist last year.

Robiskie led the Buckeyes two seasons in receiving, with 42 catches for 535 yards and eight touchdowns in 2008. Twice a first team Academic All-American and a 2008 National Football Foundation postgraduate scholar, the Cleveland product graduated from Ohio State in March with a bachelor's degree in marketing. Winner of the Big Ten Medal of Honor, Robiskie was a second-round draft pick of the NFL's Cleveland Browns.

"I appreciate all the honors and recognition I have received as a part of Ohio State, but this one has been special to me, because it represents Arthur Ashe and the values he embodied," Robiskie said. "I am so proud to share this honor with Ohio State, where I had a great career in athletics and I received a world-class degree in business."

Diverse: Issues In Higher Education established the Sports Scholars Awards in 1992 to honor the legendary Arthur Ashe Jr. and his commitment to social justice, education and sports. Each year, the nation's colleges and universities nominate their outstanding minority student-athletes and the winning top male and female student-athletes are profiled in a special issue.

"Brian has always represented the football program and Ohio State at the top level in the classroom, on the field and in outreach. This is just another acknowledgement of an outstanding young man," Coach Jim Tressel said. "I know how much this honor, recognizing Arthur Ashe, meant to him last year, and it will be significant to him that he is a two-time finalist."

Cleveland Browns: Eric Mangini's Tuesday press conference
by The Plain Dealer
Tuesday June 02, 2009

On how Brian Robiskie is coming along - "I'd say he is like the rest of the rookie group where there are some days something clicks and he runs that really well or does that really well, and there are some days where maybe he's got it jumbled up with what he did at Ohio State and he doesn't quiet look the same.

Those guys are dealing with so much right now in terms of change of environment, change of coaches, change of terminology, going from the big man on campus to rookie. All of that stuff is new and getting used to the way that we structure practices and meetings. They are dealing with a lot of stuff. I think as a group they are doing some positive things."

Three players win Big Ten Medals of Honor
June 10, 2009
Posted by ESPN.com's Adam Rittenberg

The Big Ten has announced its 2009 Medal of Honor winners, presented to graduating seniors who stand out in both athletics and academics. The list includes three football players: Indiana kicker Austin Starr, Northwestern wide receiver Eric Peterman and Ohio State wide receiver Brian Robiskie.

Peterman and Starr both were also Big Ten Sportsmanship Award honorees for their sports this academic year, and Peterman was among the 22 winners of the league's Outstanding Sportsmanship Award.

Robiskie was one of four Medal of Honor recipients to play for a team that won a Big Ten championship this year.

Wideout watch

Braylon Edwards gave his take on the Round 2 picks who are candidates to win the starting wideout job opposite him, Mohamed Massaquoi and Brian Robiskie.

On a personal level:

?Massaquoi is real laid back. Brian is real upbeat.?

On playing styles:

?They both run good routes. They both catch with their hands. They both have speed and good releases at the line of scrimmage.?

Edwards didn?t mention 5-foot-9 Syndric Steptoe, a sometimes starter in 2008, when he said, ?The taller a receiver is, the more of a window a quarterback has.?

Robiskie is listed at 6-3, Massaquoi at 6-2. Edwards is 6-4.

?A lot of systems seem to be going with two big guys on the outside, and smaller guys on the inside,? Edwards said. ?It seems to be a new wave.?

No. 2 receiver: If the past two months of practices are any indication, rookies Brian Robiskie and Mohamed Massaquoi are leading the way. Both have drawn praise from Mangini and showed more flash than David Patten, Joshua Cribbs, Syndric Steptoe, Mike Furrey, Paul Hubbard and Lance Leggett. It's uncertain whether last year's oft-injured No. 2 Donte' Stallworth, facing charges of DUI manslaughter, will participate in camp.

Position Battle: Wide Recievers
by Nick Diligente
Tuesday June 16, 2009

Team Mankock used two 2nd rounds selections on two WRs, Brian Robiskie and Mohammed Massaquoi. Robiskie will be an instant fan favorite here. His father, Terry Robiskie, was not the problem in Cleveland when he coached. Terry taught him to be a well disciplined player. He was said to be the most NFL ready WR in the draft this year, led the Buckeyes with 55 receptions for 935 yards, with 11 scores (remember he had a poor passing QB in Pryor throwing him the ball at OSU). He runs precise routes and will be a pure possession receiver for years to come

Prediction: Stallworth is released during the second week of minicamp because of this unsettling situation. Mangini sends Stallworth on his way to go get a fresh start with someone else.

Depth Chart 2009 season
No. 1 Braylon Edwards
No. 2 Brian Robiskie
No. 3 Mike Furrey
No. 4 Mohammed Massaquoi
No. 5 Joshua Cribbs (remember he will use up a roster spot...)
No. 6 David Patten

*Paul Hubbard , Sydrick Steptoe and all others fail to make 52 man roster*
