Miller, DePriest to play each other in All-American game

Braxton Miller and Trey DePriest are back together again.

Miller, Wayne?s outstanding senior quarterback, and DePriest, Springfield?s equally talented linebacker, are both headed to the Under Armour High School All-America Football Game, although on opposing teams.

The game will be played at Tropicana Field, St. Petersburg, Fla., on Wednesday, Jan. 5, and will be televised live on ESPN at. Tropicana Field is the domed home of the Tampa Bay Rays.

Miller led Wayne to the D-I state championship game at Canton, which Lakewood St. Edward won, 35-28. He has verbally committed to Ohio State University.

DePriest, a double RB/LB threat the past three seasons, led Springfield to the playoffs the past two seasons. He?s headed to defending national champion Alabama.

Both were youth teammates at Springfield.

Miller, 6-3, 200, will play for Team Micro G (White Team). DePriest, 6-1, 225, will play for Team Click-Clack (Red Team).

Centerville OT/DT Michael Bennett also has an upcoming national all-star game. The 6-3, 260-pounder will play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Saturday, Jan. 8, at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. NBC will televise the game at noon.

Bennett will join Miller at OSU.

Strongest arm
What we look for: The ability to make spectacular throws into tight spots with arm strength alone. These players display the skills to drive the ball vertically with power and are able to consistently throw the deep comeback route to the sideline from the opposite wide hash.

Braxton Miller (Huber Heights, Ohio/Wayne)
Miller is a stronger-armed Pat White in terms of skill set. He is a dual-threat, but could stand in the pocket and make every throw on the field including deep out cuts from the opposite hash mark. The Ohio State commit shows tremendous rpms on the ball when his feet are set and can fit the ball into tight spots in coverage.

What we look for: These prospects can be every bit as dangerous with their legs and overall athleticism as they can be with their arm. Often times at this stage, dual-threat QBs are better athletes than passers.

Braxton Miller
The 6-foot-2, 190-pounder is explosive, shifty and has some strength as a runner as well. He is one of the few dual-threat guys that is not behind in the passing game, which is why he is so dangerous. He has the arm to make difficult throws on the move when out of the pocket and is a dynamic runner.

Braxton Miller?s OSU status receives unexpected upgrade

Say goodbye to Terrelle Pryor and hello to Braxton Miller.

The Wayne High School product just received a major hike in his status as Pryor?s heir apparent as Ohio State University?s next starting quarterback on Thursday.

Miller could be in the lineup as soon as the Scarlet and Gray spring game, let alone next season?s opener vs. Akron.

Pryor returning for half his senior season next fall ? he must sit out the first five games ? would be a longer shot than Carson Palmer regaining whatever it was that he had. If Pryor doesn?t return, Miller misses out on a designated mentor for at least his freshman season.

But after Pryor?s incredible lack of off-field decision making, that may not be such a bad thing.

?That?s hard to think about,? said Miller on Wednesday after learning Pryor was among six Buckeyes to be hit with NCAA violations for ?selling awards, gifts and university apparel and receiving improper benefits in 2009.?

?I wanted to learn from (Pryor) a little bit. Just step in and see what?s going on.

He's going to go nuts in the Under Armor game! Game favors the passing game.

Will he be able to play in that game? I heard that he might not be allowed due to him not being a High School student anymore. He is enrolled at tOSU now and I heard his first class is the same day as the game which will make him officially a College Student and not allowed to play in that game. Much like how I don't like the fact because he is going early he won't be allowed to play in the Big 33 just like how Marcus Freeman wasn't allowed. I wish there was some ways to bend the rules for students not to get punished for graduating early.

I'm pretty sure Shazier is playing in it and in the past guys have played in this and the Army AA game even though they were enrolled early. I don't think the games have any rule about still having to be H.S. students. Jack Mewhort and Strom Klein both played in the World championships and that was in the summer even though they enrolled in winter/spring qts that year. Shouldn't be a problem.

He can play in the UA game, not the big 33.

Nine years ago, there was this in-coming freshman QB that was supposed to start from day one and save the program. Anyone remember Justin Zwick? Pryor was supposed win two Heismans and get us multiple national titles. Folks need to quit with the unrealistic expectations of incoming freshman QBs.

Nothing. Mili doesn't seem to remember we went to a freshman about 3 yrs ago and we had a pretty good season.

I highly doubt there is a QB on our roster besides TP that has the ability and skill that Braxton possesses. There is a reason he is ranked in the top of his class at his position. Not only can he make all the throws in High School but also shows the uncanny ability to escape the pocket like Mike Vick. He has the quickness and agility that Pryor lacks and has just as much speed. He just doesn't posses it in a freakishly huge body.

I think when he steps on campus, he will be the best running QB that we have seen, and that includes TP.
