WR Brandon Inniss (Official Thread)

I needed some comedy, so I wandered over to canesinsight.com for some good ol Hurricanes delusion. And boy do they not disappoint :slappy:

So apparently Inniss was supposed to transfer to Miami.
But then they deemed him not good enough to play for Miami and would rather have Evan Stewart…
And now after one year, they claim he’s a bust who will never amount to anything and maxed out in HS

Those idiots really rival the DFBIA for arrogance and thinking they are more important that they are, aren't they?

2023 numbers (freshman): 1 catch for 58 yards and a touchdown
Despite the loss of Marvin Harrison Jr. to the 2024 NFL Draft and Julian Fleming to Penn State in the transfer portal, Ohio State has plenty of high-end targets in the passing game, including Emeka Egbuka and Carnell Tate. Brandon Inniss is another, after struggling a bit to find his way as a true freshman last fall. He'll be battling the arrival of Smith, the No. 1 player in the 2024 cycle and Jayden Ballard for snaps and sources say that will light a fire under the former four-star from the 2023 class.

'I'm the perfect slot receiver.' Brandon Inniss preparing for a bigger role for Ohio State in 2024

Ohio State fans didn't get to know wide receiver Brandon Inniss too well last year. Despite being the fifth-best player at his position in the 2023 recruiting class, Inniss played in only six games on offense and just 32 total snaps as a freshman.

It wasn't due to a lack of talent; Inniss has that in bunches. Like most first-year receivers for the Buckeyes, such as Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson, Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Marvin Harrison Jr., Inniss had to wait his turn behind some of the best wideouts in the country. He hopes to follow in those players' footsteps and break out as a sophomore this fall.

Talking to coaches and teammates about Inniss, one thing becomes clear: he is one of the most competitive players on the Scarlet and Gray roster. Inniss wants to win any competition he's involved in, something he says comes from his upbringing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

"It just comes from where I'm from, South Florida," Inniss said this spring. "I feel like everybody down there, we compete to the max. There's no other place that competes like South Florida. There's dogs all around South Florida. So I mean, ever since I was seven years old when I started playing, it was instilled in me to just compete and be that dog."

The Jeremiah Smith hype train is coming at the expense of a freak receiver in Iniss. This kid is an absolute stud and will put up huge stats next year. Because of his size/position and ability to help last year (Tate got more PT) I think he’s flying under the radar. Inniss is nasty. Like ridiculously nasty…

This will be fun.
Fun indeed. Innis will make his mark, this is just a product of having so many weapons to be excited about. But Innis should a very important weapon this season.

Ohio State WR Brandon Inniss back to full strength after injuring foot in spring practice

Brandon Inniss was practicing during Ohio State’s second week of spring drills in March when he hurt his right foot.

As he stopped his route along the sideline at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center, he felt a tweak on the side of his foot.

It was not enough to sideline the sophomore wide receiver in the immediate aftermath, though later it proved difficult to manage.

“I tried practicing on it more and more and I just couldn’t,” Inniss said.

Inniss was diagnosed with a hairline fracture, prompting him to miss the end of spring. When the Buckeyes held their spring game in April, his foot was in a walking boot as he rode a medical scooter along the sideline at Ohio Stadium.

“Being out there doing things not at 100%, it would just make it worse,” he said.

No surgery was needed. The rest helped him to return to full strength this summer and participate in the Buckeyes’ strength and conditioning workouts and catch passes from the quarterbacks during weekend throwing sessions.

“It recovered already 100%” Inniss said.

His recovery was swift enough that he set personal bests while running 10 and 20-yard splits and lining up for the vertical jump.

“It definitely wasn’t easy then,” he said, “but now I feel amazing.”

Brandon Inniss Making A Big Impression on Ryan Day, Ohio State Teammates Entering Sophomore Season

148060_h.jpg

If the way Ryan Day, Emeka Egbuka and Denzel Burke talked about Brandon Inniss at Big Ten Media Days is any indication, the sophomore wide receiver should not be overlooked as a player who could be a major factor in Ohio State’s offense this season.

There might not be a starting spot available for Inniss in Ohio State’s receiving corps this year. Egbuka has spent the past two years playing primarily in the slot, the same position Inniss is expected to play primarily for the Buckeyes. Fellow sophomore Carnell Tate seems like a lock for a starting job after he received extensive praise from Ohio State coaches and players throughout his freshman year. And it’s hard to imagine
Jeremiah Smith not being an immediate starter with how much he’s been talked up in his first offseason as a Buckeye.

Inniss, however, has drawn consistent praise from Day since this spring, when Day described Inniss as “the guy you want on your team” because of his fierce competitiveness. He offered similar praise of Inniss during his press conference at Big Ten Media Days when asked who he thought could step up to be Ohio State’s fourth receiver this year.

“You feel Brandon Inniss when you're out there,” Day said.
