Meh, I think Rivers will be fine, he was good in college and he doesn't lose us the game. Face it, Tomlinson can win you at least 8 games and with Jackson and Gates to throw to, Rivers has a pretty easy run.

As for coordinators, yeah there's going to be some issues there, as I have stated I am not expecting a very successful year in 2007, but time will tell. As for firing Marty, I agree, I wish they had done it at the beginning, promoted Cam and talked Wade into staying, I would be a lot more confident then.

Shoot, the more I look at it, all SD needs in the draft are DB's and WR's which there are some good quality there. This team could be really good for a long time. Who wouldn't want to coach there?!

Chargers interview Turner, Ryan for coaching job

SAN DIEGO -- Flashing a Super Bowl ring, which is a strange sight around here, Rex Ryan spoke about how he'd love to win an NFL championship with the San Diego Chargers.

"That would be something that we'd be targeting. We'd like to get several of those," Ryan said after emerging from his interview with Chargers executives on Thursday.

I hate waiting and wondering, just get a coach so I can either smile or bitch already...

Per ESPn front page the Chargers are going to hire Norv Turner as HC. I have bashed Marty in this thread as much as anyone and even I admit this was a step down. If you look up "horrible hire" in the dictionary this will be the picture that would be there. Norv has an impressive 58-82-1 record as a head coach and a play-off rate of one appearance every 9 seasons. What a great move by S.D. Here is what OCBucksFan looks like right now:sad2: ......

Pretty much, I can't understand this move at all, we take a coach that has had two successful seasons in his entire head coaching career, hell, he wasn't that great with the offense when he was here...

The Chargers job has everything that should attract a decent name, instead they choose a proven loser? Sigh...

I am so bitter right now, I just can't understand the thought process. First off, Dean Spanos is usually a pretty bright guy, and it's not like he's Al Davis where no one wants to coach for him, yet I feel like they have just settled on someone.

Odds are he's only going to be here for 1 year but in his 9 seasons he's had two with winning records. 58-82-1, how are fans supposed to swallow that? It's like the basically took a team that was setup to win next year and did the worst thing for it.

I liked Norv Turner when he was the Raiders coach :(

Chargers hire Turner as new head coach

In San Diego, he will inherit a high-octane Chargers offense featuring star tailback and 2006 most valuable player LaDainian Tomlinson. But Turner will also be responsible for the continued development of quarterback Philip Rivers, who was in his first year as the starter in 2006.

Last year was such a good football year for me, now I have to look forward to the coach who killed the raiders, great... :pissed:

I don't think Turner killed the Raiders. He inherited the carnage left by Bill Callahan.

That said, San Diego fired one non-playoff winner for another....I thought you were supposed to IMPROVE with a new coach or go another direction. Instead they got a retread.

Exactly, we went from a coach who was a regular season winner to a coach who's a regular season loser. Marty's .277 post season record was pretty horrible, but it looks pretty nice when you compare it to Norv Turner's 0.

actually top be fair to Norv he has a .500 record in the play-offs, he was 1-1 with the 'skins. I think this was the GM's doing, he wanted a puppet and he got one. Horrible hire.

I am thinking/hoping/praying that he's just the coach for now and not the future. There's really no one available, so I am assuming that he's pretty much a grab now and see who's available next year. If he does well and gets us to the dance then of course that would change. I'll know more in about 90 minutes when i hear the Chargers press conference and hopefully get to know more about the contract.
