I didn't see any topics about this game, anybody been playing it? It's in Beta right now, but it's going to be a free to play game with microtransactions when it comes out. Right now just about anyone can get into Beta, all you have to do is search around online.
Basically the game is 15 vs. 15 in tanks. Theres no wait for a match, and the server does a fairly good job most of the time to match up teams with even level tanks. There are about 10 different maps at this time and more being added. Currently you can choose from USSR and German tanks, all from WWII era roughly, and US, French, and UK tanks will be implemented later. Currently both sides will have a mix of USSR and German tanks, I'm not sure if thats going to change or not, but it helps keep things balanced currently.
There are 5 classifications for Tanks: Light tanks, Medium tanks, Heavy tanks, Tank Destroyers, and SPGs (Artillery). Light tanks are what you start out with, one for USSR and one German make. Light tanks are good for scouting enemy locations so Artillery (Arteys) and Tank Destroyers can hit the enemy from a safe distance. Medium tanks can fill a variety of roles including assisting scouts, invading enemy territory, playing defense, they have the speed and firepower to do a lot. Heavy tanks are the beasts that can take the damage and fire back hard. They don't move quickly, but smaller tanks will have a hard time getting through their armor. Tank Destoyers are kind of a niche group. TD's act like Snipers because they can camoflage well and hit from a distance, but they don't necessarily hit any harder than a Medium or Heavy tank. A TD doesn't really have a turret either, they can really only fire forward. Arteys are a whole different beast. They can't hit anything without another tank spotting an enemy for them to hit. Arteys get a top down view of the map like a satellite view and can hit enemies on the other end of the map. They hit hard and can launch shells far, but their actual armor is very weak and they're slow, so they're prone to quick attacks from Light tanks.
You progress to better tanks by winning matches, getting kills, doing damage, and detecting/scouting enemies. All these factor into how much experience and credits you get at the end of the map. You use your experience to research new tanks and better parts for your current tanks. You use the credits to buy the tanks, the parts, to repair, to buy shells, and to buy miscellaneous things that aren't really required like repair kits and bonuses like extra camo.
The game is pretty fun once you understand how to use each tank's advantages and rack up your experience/credits each map. Matches are normally fast paced, lasting no more than 15 minutes with most lasting 7 and some as short as 3-4. You can form a Squadron of friends with as many as 3 of you jumping together into the same map. It can be difficult at first to learn your role, but the learning curve isn't too bad. Light tanks get most of their experience by keeping the pedal down to stay fast and avoid fire while they detect enemy locations for the rest of the team. Medium tanks get their experience with a combination of scouting/damage/destroy. Heavies mostly get their experience through damage and destroying as do TD's and Arteys.
I highly suggest checking this game out, play it at least for a night or two. They won't thrust you into a match with a bunch of higher Tier'd tanks to start with, you'll mostly be playing with other new players in Light tanks to begin with while you learn. As you amass experience and research new tanks the battles will scale with you.
If anyone on BP is currently playing and wants to jump into a squadron my username is Emmettbrown, feel free to add me.
