Biggest surprise so far has to be T/T's draw with Sweden, though I really think they're a quality side, at least inasmuch as the "chic" upset teams, like the Ivory Coast and Ghana. When you have an experienced keeper and a world class striker, you can stay in games.
I'm really fired up about the US game tomorrow. There seems to have been a lot of public whining about playing the Czechs first, but I think that's absolutely great. Play a good, maybe the best, side in your group first, and then if you get a draw, or even better, a win, you put all freaking kinds of pressure on the other squads...worked like a charm sticking it to Portugal in 2002. Even a draw and an Italian win over Ghana would be more than acceptable tomorrow, and could set the tone for a showdown next Saturday.
If there is one thing I'm worried about, it's actually the goalkeeping. I have nothing but respect for Keller and all the time he has devoted to the US over the years. But I heard some players and people associated with the team say that "Keller is the best goalkeeper in the world"...I have absolutely no idea where they get that from, because his tenure in the EPL was less than perfect, that's for sure. He's playing decent now, but we need him to be huge like my man Friedel was in 2002.
