WBC just isn't important enough for some USA guys to bother, and I get it. Their $100+ million MLB contracts have nothing to do with it. It's just a risk not worth taking.

It makes this tournament more conducive to underdogs, especially Japan who has a good league and their MLB guys have the pride to join their countrymen for this event.

Same with the Latin countries. Much more pride by their players. Especially the pitching

Honestly the offense has been weak in all their games. Exhibitions included. If Schwarber hadn't gone yahtzee last night they may have blown that game vs Great Britain, whose pitching staff was eviscerated today by Canada

It's an American thing. We already "know" we're the best so this tournament doesn't resonate with some stars. It's no accident that we refer to our professional sports champions as "world" champions. Dudes like Verlander and Scherzer don't give a hoot about this event.

Bingo. It's why the 2017 USA squad is special bc they actually won it. This group looks weak so far. Still early but the signs aren't good

7 runs in 15 innings vs minor league pitching with this lineup? Gross. Add in the 1 run vs the SF Giants in the exhibition game loss makes it 8 runs in 24 innings..pathetic

Feel bad for this Bratt kid. 19 year old A ball pitcher having to take on a bunch of All Stars. All Stars who aren't midseason form, but they're still guys he's watched growing up. Add to it the pressure of representing his country, yeah...it didn't go well.

But it's good for team USA, who need a win after last night's debacle.
