I haven't looked, but I'm guessing the commentary from some in the American media is that penalties are a terrible way to decide a World Cup final (perhaps not having that opinion if the U.S. had won).

But some in the media had that same view last weekend when the U.S. beat Brazil, so who knows.

It's hard to not at least appreciate the way Japan played in the tournament and their plight back home (with the earthquake/tsunami).

Wish the team could've held onto those two leads.

I still call special section in the SI swimsuit issue for the women's team.
