It's great for the WNBA, but both games were sellouts One arena is just 1K bigger. The better number is CC is putting 17K+ asses in seats and the rest of the games are around 7K. I feel like the men's Olympic teams try to include younger players so you always have some experience. When some of the old hags like Taurasi retire they are going to wish young players like CC, Boston, Brink, and Reese had some Olympic experience.

One has to look at the demographics of those that watch the WNBA. Who are the people who buy tickets to the games. Then, that is your primary target market. Ask what is appealing to those people, and yes, one slices that demog to pieces. What other grouping of people would be inticed to travel to, pay money for, tickets to watch this product? Once decided on that target market, how does one go about putting on the court that which makes them WANT to attend. CC could be as simple as a midwest girl, Iowa, playing for a midwest team, Fever, and these people following 'one of their own'. As I have opined earlier, it seems like everyone in the WNBA can hit the three, so it's not the O that CC brings, is it? Remember when Magic and Bird 'saved' the NBA from a slow death, by bringing scoring (Bird) and outstanding playmaking (both Bird and Magic) to the floor. All three (Magic, Bird, and CC) make their teammates better by their presence. Has it really gotten so bad that a white cannot criticize a black, and a black cannot criticize a white on their performances, without raising the specter of racism? I don't care how many tats a player has, only can they play well, and put the ball in the basket.

I’ve watched a good amount of Fever games. All of then broadcast locally. She is playing awful at the professional level. She looks slow, weak and completely thrown off by this level. She turns it over at a ridiculous clip - getting beat on her on dribble and with bad passes. And she plays no defense. She was an all-world college player and clearly talented but she has a ways to go.

And to Fungo’s point earlier, she has had an awful attitude on the court. Towards teammates, towards refs, and general body language. There’s been many times she gets called for a foul or travel and just rolls or slams the ball away from the refs. She is not gaining any respect but continues to cry the way she did in college and is begging for more and more techs.

Anyway, I see she’s now become a lightning rod for people outside of sports to opine and politik so I’ll just leave it to the on court stuff. I hope it starts to click and she turns the Fever around but it’s not going to be year 1.

In college, CC was an apex predator. She received the same favorable treatment as Michael Jordan did in the NBA. Now, in a higher league, she is starting at the bottom, and has to earn her way. These WNBA players have done this before, shaped their bodies to withstand the rigor of so many games, and adapted to the pace of play, developing the requisite skills to compete at that level. Believe that she 'turns off' the refs with her constant haranguing of their lack of protection from other players fouls (which were in the college, but not so much in the WNBA). Heck, CC pushes off more often than not, and pulls up, uses two steps to get behind the 3-point line, and then puts it up. That's traveling folks. Finally, when CC gets banged to the floor, do not see any Fever players getting in the face of the opposition, do we? That says volumes about CC. Resentment from the seasoned players? Certainly. She's a scorer, as noted by her record, but must adapt to the elevated pro game. Do believe she is concentrating on her assists, which will endear her to her teammates. She just has to get better at it.

100% agree. Hated seeing her in college but it was because she was so much better than the Buckeyes and she kept proving it. But that was a respect she earned. The last year she came back to win and I think she knew they would only win as many games as she could win them. Part of her"act" was to wrangle the attention and I'm guessing it has been a mixed bag so far in the pros for that. She's on a young team which only makes things worse.

All I can say is regardless of how they treat her this year they better make it count because it's her league going forward and when she gets any protection from the league it's all she wrote for the hood rats. Most people hate the pioneers while it's happening at all levels.

Believe this entire class of WNBA rookies are making a difference. Certainly CC is the tip of the spear, and the butts in the seats is proof of that. Fever will lead the league in attendance by a large amount. Brink at LA is a starter, and from the snippets have seen, is doing very well at it. Reese is starting (?), and having an impact on the games. CC is starting as well, and is an integral part of Fever, doing what she does, but Fever is still struggling. Not certain CC and Kelsey have got it intune yet. And CC's running mate at Iowa, Morgan (?), has probably done the best, as her teammates (from last two WNBA champs!) have embraced her as a 'force', as she is filling the gaps, and seemingly doing everything well. Probably some other rookies to note, but haven't seen (or heard beat writers mention), so cannot note here. My wife and I do indeed scan the tv listings to see who's playing, and look forward to seeing Fever play, or Dallas (hoping to see Jacy).

I wonder why people love this stuff from the men, but hate it from the women.

It’s weird as hell.
I haven't watched more than a few minutes of an NBA game since Jordan's 2nd retirement. I even tried a few times but the game is unwatchable.

Conversely, the college women's game is far more enjoyable to watch and the men's version needs to follow some of the changes they made.

The one thing CC definitely gets credit from me on is this - her interaction with fans and the media is second to none. She takes every time she can to get every picture and autograph for kids home and away.

And she’s handled the media scrutiny and questions well. She isn’t taking the bait of building this huge rivalry or making more of these fouls - she’s a competitor and knows it’s just basketball. Tough plays happen.

So even if she’s still a bit immature on the court, she has been amazing off it.

Oh and the Fever may finally figuring some things out. Looking better every game - their schedule right out the gate (and just one month after Clark was still finishing her college career) did them no service.

Agreed! Her responses to the questions over the last couple weeks have been letter perfect. It almost feels like the media is making a huge issue out of something that the athletes don’t even care about just to get clicks. Hmmm….
