Game Thread Wisconsin at tOSU, Sep 28th, 8 ET, ABC/ESPN/ESPN2

on one hand Braxton can be indecisive, and takes unnecessary losses.
...
it's a conundrum for sure. how can you bench Miller when he does everything right?
Huh?

if you had to pin me down, i'd stick with Kenny and mix Braxton in as a change of pace.
I agree with starting Guiton. Miller will be somewhat rusty, I don't care how well he's done in practice. Under Miller, we scored 40 against Buffalo (who gave up 70 to Baylor the next week). Under Guiton, we scored 35 first half points against San Diego State before going on cruise control in the second half once up 42-0, scored 52 points on the road against Cal (yeah, their defense is suspect, but we scored significantly more against them than we did Buffalo), and then 55 first half points against FAMU. In the three first halves Guiton has played, we scored 35, 31, and 55 points. Meyer likes to start fast, and you can't get much faster than that.

Guiton has been scary efficient during these three games. I'd say start Guiton and maybe slide Miller in later to see how he plays. I hope that if Meyer does choose to start Miller and Miller is rusty/inefficient, he doesn't hesitate to pull Miller and put Guiton in.

i was meaning when it comes to off field stuff. he's so humble, and such a great kid.

pretty much this. Kenny has such a grasp of the O that it outweighs whatever athletic advantage that Braxton has.

at least in my IMO.

We're on the same page Mili yet there are alot of naysayers to this strategy.

No really sure we can judge how well Miller knows the Offense at this point in the season. Kenny has a great grasp of the O. We will find out Sat with Miller.

I don't think that the Buckeyes are over-estimating or under-estimating the Badgers. Wisconsin has done a better job of beating the Buckeyes in Ohio Stadium than just about anyone in recent years. Wisky comes into the game with a chip on their shoulders for their undeserved B1G championship game last year and they have been impressive at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. More importantly, they are feeling quite hard done by after the trip to Arizona.

That said, so what? The Buckeyes have something to prove as well. Wisconsin is good but slow. Shut down the Badger running game and there isn't a lot there that the Buckeyes must master. Their quarterback was very unimpressive last week and he likes one receiver (the tight end, who is very good). Ohio State will have to be their traditional selves on rushing defense.

On defense, the Badgers will have trouble containing Ohio State's speed and athleticism. They are very prone to lapses in coverage when the field is spread. Purdue found lots of success with tight end crossing routes, taking advantage big time of Wisky's blitzes. Purdue had receivers open downfield a lot of the time, but their QB simply did not see them or missed them with bad throws.

I like the Buckeyes by 17-21.

Hoping for a BIG game from Curtis Grant and Josh Perry. I love both of these guys size and athleticism and think that they will fare well in smash mouth play.

Me too. This is what I will be watching most closely early on. It is also the reason that I like this part of Bucky32's original post in the thread:

OL: To be honest, the offensive line is not as good as in year's past. They struggled in the first half against a pretty good ASU d-line. It's a young line that will have their hands full against OSU's front seven.

Would be great to see Curtis and Josh have a strong, confidence-building performance against an outstanding running team.

My biggest fear for this game is that Miller comes out flat. He has watched what Kenny has done and it has to be weighing on his mind. I'm sure he's well aware that he needs to be in top form to stay in the game, I just hope he doesn't let that bother him to the point that it's the sole reason he's struggling in the first place. Hope I'm wrong, but I can definitely see this happening.

I definitely think that there will be pressure on him - both to show that he is a superior runner/scrambler and that he can hit open guys as well as KG can. He is the former, but not the latter. He needs to just do what he does and we will be fine. I do worry what the crowd reaction and Brax reaction will be when he over/under throws a wide open D Smith.

This game for Wisky boils down to two dynamics----control the ball and score and also can the Wisky defense keep OSU offense at bay. I worry about the physical nature of Wisky vs OSU after the Cream Puff brigade in the first four weeks. For Ohio State is comes down to can they stop the run. I believe the offense will put points on the board. Will Wisky be patient enough to run the ball and can Ohio State control the lone of scrimmage. Will be a great game in my opinion.

Skin the Badgers....get into practice of offing rodents.

Go Bucks.

My first night game at the shoe! Cant fucking wait.

I think you picked a good one. It's my third. I typically pick one of the bigger games to go to since I have to travel. Leaving for Ohio in a few hours. Schmidts Sausage Haus on Friday night and lucky breakfast at Bob Evans on Olentangy Saturday morning.

Be loud.

Go Buckeyes.

2011 game on BTN right now, amazingly 5 starters from that offense will be in the lineup this weekend: miller, Philly, fields, mewhort, norwell. Lots of time for Devin smith (obviously) and Jordan hall was subbing often for a recently returned boom Herron.

Roby (in 25), Bryant, Barnett sightings on defense.
