MSU didn't have the option of stacking 8-9 in the box against Wiscy like they did against us a month ago.

Yes, but the other side of that coin is that Wisky will stack the box against us. Cousins threw for almost 300 to get the win. Anyone think Braxton Miller can or will be allowed to do the same? Anyone?

They've had 2 weeks to work on it. Maybe they have found out that the forward pass is legal and have found out how to use it. However, Jim Bollman is who he is, and Braxton is still a trainee.

All I'm saying is that this is a really, really hard match up for us. Weird things happen in a football game tho. If OSU wins, there will be plenty of weirdness.

The best thing for OSU would be if significant doubt and depression has crept into the Wisconsin team. I hope so.

And if I'm wrong and we win 16-13, then I'll be happy to own it Monday morning. :)

If you're asking "can", as in "is it reasonably possible", then yes, I do. Three things will facilitate this happening: Miller's confidence, the pass blocking, and the offensive scheme. Plus, even if Wiscy stacks the box, Boom can bounce it outside better than any other of the backs we have. Remember in 2007 when Beanie exploded for 3 TDs in the second half against Wiscy to turn a 17-14 deficit into a 38-17 blowout? All three runs were either bounced to the outside or cutbacks against the defensive flow. Boom has similar abilities.

If you can do this, you'll be very successful against this defense.

I like your scenario. Let's hope it plays out.

I think this is the one game left on the schedule where Ohio State has a chance to take a huge loss - a beat down that could kill their chances of salvaging this season. That's what I'm nervous about. I have visions of Ron Dayne running over, through, and around the silver bullets in Ohio Stadium. They have that same capability with Ball and White, and while we now know that Russel Wilson is mortal, he is also very, very good.

I just rewatched the Illinois game, and was struck at how slow developing our outside runs are. We need to get the ball to the corners faster to have any chance of opening up the middle. Also, I think some trickeration may be needed against Wisky to make up for the lack of a passing game.

I share this thought. For this to be winable for the Bucks, lots of good things have to play out in our favor to include some weird things. I think about MSU and it took a blocked kick, a Safety and a TD off of a blocked punt plus a hail mary to beat Bucky. That's a lot of positive weird events in their favor and they have the benefit of a senior QB.

I think we could win this, but I also see the possibility of a beat down. We shall see...I'm sure hoping for the first scenario!

Stole that from Tyvis' thread, but he has some great points....especially when it comes to Roby or Howard covering Toon. Both Roby & Howard did an excellent job of shutting down AJ Jenkins (8 for 80, no TD), who is a better receiver than Toon (IMO & based on stats). Get up early, don't turn the ball over & we win. The way we looked against Nebraska before Braxton went down....we can play with anyone in the country. Plus the news of Braxton looking better & better in practice, I like our chances & can't wait to see it in person

LET'S GO BUCKS!!!!

The Buckeye defense is going to have to play it's ass off, especially the front 7. Sound tackling is a must, and the energy level needs to stay high all game on every play, and that will also require the fans to be energetic and loud all game on every down. If Ohio State can put together its cleanest defensive performance they may be able to really slow down what they do enough to frustrate Wisconsin into bad decisions and big losses and turnovers. I do worry that that their line will get a good push and Ball will have a lot of room to run. Ohio State is going to need to have a good mix of defensive coverages to confuse Wilson. The Bucks may be able to even get to Wilson with just four guys, so if they can hold the run game to 3 or 4 yards a carry, and force a few passing downs, I think good things may happen. But again, they have to tackle. The Buckeyes will not be able to slow them down if they can make the LBs miss tackles.

On the flip side I feel like their defense is not any better than what Ohio State has seen. Especially with the game being at home, as long as the offense don't come out flat and awful and get the crowd turning on them, then I don't see how anybody stops the Buckeyes but themselves. Boom and Hall should be able to run the ball fairly well, maybe as well as Wisconsin will. Pass protection worries me a little bit, and could be the only downfall. I feel like the offense will end up in a lot more 2nd and 3rd and longs than they will, so converting will be a lot more challenging. But I feel like their secondary is ripe for the picking, so if Ohio State can keep routes simple and the backs can help protect Braxton, then there should be guys open. The offense may have success spreading everybody out as well. Even though everyone is talking about the pass, I would start out running the ball, and keep doing it until they stop it.

Overall I think the game will hinge on a key Wisconsin turnover, and Ohio State wins the game 27-24.
