Game Thread Wisconsin 13, tOSU 31 (Oct 10, 3:30 ET, ABC/ESPN)

In my mind, they key will be our ability to keep the offense on the field and control the clock so that our defense doesn't wear down in the final quarter. If we can get 35 mins of offense, then I think we win by 17-21 points. If it's close to even, then possibly it's a 7-10 point victory.

This point is key because if you don't have the ball you don't score. Then you find yourself behind by 10-14 and running is not a big priority when you get down that much. I posted this earlier and this is why I don't think Wisky can win this battle that is key:

"Wisconsin has the worst defense of all the remaining undefeated teams. OSU should be able to sustain long drives(wisconsin 90th in 3rd down defense and 63rd in 1st downs allowed)."

If you can't get off the field on 3rd down and you consistently give 1st downs up, your running game means nothing against a good team. They have played crappy teams at an even rate where their run game was relevant, but OSU's offense will wipe that right out of their playbook by keeping the ball. BTW that extremely great IU offense(sarcasm) was pushed to a 3 and out 7 times. Good Luck Wisky, It's the only way you are close to winning this one.

I cant fucking stand the media...they are all douchebags.

Newsflash yes OSU has struggled with Wisconsin but that was when Alverez was coach. BB is 0-2 against the Buckeyes. Beating the 1999, 2001, and 2004 Buckeyes is nothing to brag about. 2003 was the only year recently that they beat a great OSU team. Shit at least brag about an OSU team that won 9 frickin games.

Yes they have already played a road game but GMAFB comparing CFbank Stadium to the Shoe that is the most insanely retarded comparison I have ever heard. That shit is gonna be like a metallica concert in the 80's.

Yes Wisconsin is better on offense. Their defense has taken as many steps back this year as their offense has taken forward.

If they think they are gonna pound this defensive line they are in for a big fucking suprise. Hopefully their backs fumble as much this weekend as they have in the past. They act like Jon Clay is the greatest back to ever play against the Buckeyes.

Tolzien is a good passer but the shitty secondaries he has played in the past are gonna be nothing compared to what he will see thsi weekend. The risky throws he has made in past weeks are gonna bite him in the ass this weekend.

I hope he is ready to that that jersey dirty. This guys jersey has been pretty clean...shit they probably haven't washed it once this year. I hope they plant this guy like a tomato at midfield.

BB is a shitty coach. This guy will go out of his way to blow a fucking game.

Chris Martin can kiss my ass. How in the hell did this tool get a job. Did he pull a Mark May...they go is a douchebag supreme.

OSU needs to make a statement this weekend.

According to the media we should just forfeit against the greatest team on earth...We need to make them fromundacheese sandwiches and give them a coke so they can smile and STFU!!!

I really do feel better now.Time to go take my medicine.

I'm not convinced that Wisconsin is that much better than their 2-6 conference team of last year...

QB play is better, Clay is better, but the rest of the team is pretty much the same. Defense is actually worse. And, they still have Bielema.

P fat J Hill fat isn't taking fat carries away from fat his team mates.

Did I mention PJ Hill is fat?

Didn't Fiutak also think Georgia was going to be just fine this year without the top QB and overall player in the draft, as well as the top RB in the draft?

I think Wisconsin is better than last year, but Ohio State is way better than when they played in Madison last year. I think they win comfortably this week.

I think alot of us know that Wisky is going to pound the ball up the middle and try to wear our defensive line down. If the scoring is still close in the late stages of the 4th quarter, wisky will try to wear us down just like SoCal did in that final drive against Us. Lets hope our D-Line is ready for that. We can't afford to have any turnovers against these guys. That is the only thing that could hurt our chances.

Fuck you Jax. Just when I was feeling good about this game, you slap me with reality.

I still believe there is way too much beard/mohawk on this team to fold.

Fuck Bucky. Fuck badgers. Fuck House of Pain. Fuck cheese. Fuck Fon du Lac. Fuck their cross eyed fat fuck coach. Fuck him calling tOSU "soft" last year. Fuck Wisconsin.

the Native American name for Green Bay translated as "Stinking Bay" due to all the dead fish that used to wash up on shore there... just thought you might like to know that.

Tressel sounded worried about the effects of flu on the Buckeyes in his presser. Linemen seem to be a special problem in a week when you really don't want that. This game could be closer than we thought it would be a week ago.

Wow I'm not upset about they think Wisconson can win but USC able to move the ball on the ground before giving up? Which game was he watching they ran 40 times for 118 yard. That's not really being able to move the ball on the ground and is definitely not giving up on it.

That was the part that bugged me the most too. These guys have to pick upsets, and occasionally it's going to be the Bucks. But he obviously wasn't watching the USC game very closely.

Interesting...

Being a Buckeye in Badgerland suits UW's Borland just fine - JSOnline

Madison ? Growing up in Kettering, Ohio, Chris Borland was about an hour drive from the Ohio State campus.
He did not, however, bleed scarlet and gray.
"I kind of grew up disliking Ohio State," Borland said sheepishly.
Instead, Borland followed the football programs at Wisconsin and Notre Dame.

...

So why does such a talented football player want to leave Ohio and play for a team that plays against the Buckeyes?
Borland's father, Jeff, was born in Madison and lived here until he was about 18.
"He talked about it fondly my whole life," Chris Borland said.

...

Borland acknowledged that the Buckeyes did not recruit him and contacted him only after he had committed to UW.
"Coach (Jim) Tressel was at our state championship game," Borland said. "They were recruiting another guy at my school."
Would Borland have contemplated a change if the Buckeyes offered him a scholarship?
"No," he said. "I would rather go to Wisconsin than Ohio State if they both had offered at the same time.

Why I think tOSU will beat Wisconsin:

The Buckeye defense matches up well with the Badger offense. The defense knows what is coming (power running game w/John Clay); and, unlike Minny, they can stop it with greater frequency. Clay may have worn out the Gopher defense by the 4th quarter (a 247-pound back who had 32 carries), but the Buckeye defense has enough quality depth up front to win this battle. Players have commented how this game was extremely physical last year and this game should be likewise. However, the Buckeyes should win the field position battle, and I think the Bucks have better personnel to overcome Coach Bielema's version of "Tresselball."

USC may be the only team the Buckeyes face this regular season that have enough speed on the edge and at LB to keep TP bottled up. tOSU running game will be challenged, but TP should still get some good running opportunities and I expect the draw play to be effective--especially if the tailbacks are able to bounce it outside. As with Minny, the Wisky defense will be susceptible to the short pass and I think TP is improving in this area. In addition, if TP is now operating out of the shotgun exclusively, this week of practice has been especially helpful.

How Wisconsin could win:

Wisky will have to pass the ball in order to score more points than the Buckeyes. Their QB, while new to the starting lineup, is experienced and currently leads the Big Ten in passing efficiency. While his success is largely predicated on the fact that their opponents have been suspect, Tolzien is gaining confidence and the play-action is certainly more effective with a solid running attack (which they have).

Similarly, on defense, the Badgers must limit tOSU ground game and make the Buckeyes rely on their passing game. If they can force TP to rush his throws (a greater possibility if several OL are out because of the flu), less success on third down and turnovers are both possible.

The final score:

Wisconsin had trouble with the Wells/Pryor running combination last season and there is no reason to think that Coach Tressel's current commitment to use TP as a running back (along with Saine/Herron) won't have success on Saturday. The Buckeye defense will not only create ample opportunity for their offense, they will also limit the Badgers to more FGs than TDs.

:osu:Buckeyes - 27
Wisconsin Badgers - 13
