Winter Workouts Reports

FWIW:

Tyler Moeller is now working with the safeties, and looked very good this morning. I wouldnt be surprised if he starts sometime during the season at safety.

Henton has added some weight, and looks like he is ready to make a push toward the starting job.

Worthington also looked really good this morning, and appears to be in great shape.

The workouts are from 6-7 am tue-fri this week.

Thanks for the update Grad.

Tyler is a baller. You get ballers on the field anyway you can.

Henton offers the best combination of physical attributes, but the big question is whether he can stay away from beginners' mistakes. It still amazes me that Troy never had anything close to a meltdown in his freshman year.

Worthington looking good is definitely good news. He is expected to provide a lot of depth at DT.

I think the focus on defense this year will be getting the guys that are the most physical and love to hit on the field.

I wonder if the added weight to play at LB was to much for his frame?

There was the thought that Moeler was one of the new, "defend the spread type LBers." He must be really light(205-210) to move to safety!

Henton......kids coming in have no idea how hard you have to work to be the starting QB at major colleges. Wasn't Vince Young redshirted? Troy Smith? The list goes on and on. Sure Juice started at Illinois, but things were so bad at Illinois, Zook didn't have much choice. Juice was playing just on pure athletic ability. Read a defense? Don't think so!

Indeed..of course he had been in the program for over two years before he got his first start. Time in the program is likely the biggest obstacle working against Henton since the competition has been in the locker room and the film room a lot more than him.

thanks a ton for the update 21, much appreciated.

Any other black quarterbacks you can compare Henton too?

I hear Michael Vick redshirted too.

More:
Tyler Whaley is conditioning with the fullbacks. Surprised with this switch, especially with the lack of depth at center this year.

Bobby Carpenter worked out with the team this morning, he is one physical specimen. He worked out with Laurinaitis most of the morning, and Laurinaitis was able to keep up with him.

Boeckman continues to take on a leadership role during the workouts.

Lyons switch to WR is looking like a good one.
