If Talbot wanted to put a dirty stick into Osgood, he could have done a much better job than that. It didn't look anything different from what I've seen from Detroit after play stoppages near Fleury.

Zetterberg overreacted and good for Malkin going after him... even if he whiffed on what would have been a devastating uppercut.

Pierre McGuire - is that you?!?

Except that it's usually Holmstroms ASS instead of his stick. They usually don't poke the goalie in the chest with their sticks.

No he didn't. You don't let a guy on another team hit your goalie after the whistle. When holmstrom does it, get his wrapped up.

For all the swinging Malkin was doing, he's lucky the linesman stepped in because he was head down and Zetterberg was hovering over him.....

anyway, 2-0 Detroit with an injured and not-playing Datsyuk and a 80% Lidstrom. I'll take it.

Oh yeah, BTW NBC you fucktards, so much for the "older, Slower" Wings having issues with the back to back.

For LONG stretches of the 3rd it looked as if Pittsburgh was completely out of gas and guys like Abdelkader and Helm were dominating. OH wait, they're under 30 and on the Wings??!? No fucking way!!!!! :shake:

Last time I saw Malkin that pissed off he had 5 goals in two games and had 2+ points in six straight. We're headed back home, I hope he still wants to fight. I want to fight right now.

You guys may not have him the next game.

I'm pretty sure he got an instigator and as much as I hate that rule, in the last 5 minutes of the game that's an automatic game suspension.

It'll probably be rescinded though.

No, Holmstrom puts his ass into the goalie before the whistle and just as the goal is being scored. And it is a rather sizeable ASS if I might add. There are fat woman out there that laugh at him.

Agreed. Zetterberg could have taken control right there. But Malkin was dominating the fight and would have ended it rather furiously if he gets paid off on the uppercut.

Either way, Malkin did what he had to do. I wish the Blue Jackets had shown that kind of pissed-off rage when they were getting embarrassed in Detroit.

Ha ha Malkin got an instigator but as we all know the auto-suspension will be waved.

It's a stupid rule. That kind of fighting on a major network in the Stanley Cup Finals is just what the NHL needs. If the suspension were upheld, Gary Bettman might as well chisel another letter into the league's tombstone.

It's bad enough that the Red Wings are making the league very uninteresting. (likely for years to come because the salary cap rule is backfiring)

It had better be rescinded. Dumbest rule ever. It could've been Marian Hossa getting the instigator and I would still have this opinion. It's the finals. No need for stupid rules to affect it.

Most women don't have 4 Stanley Cups and get paid millions of dollars to put on ice skates either

Satan was trying to hold Zetterberg back AND Malkin caught him with a stick pre-fight. Not good for Malkin to get that out of the zone.

I'm quite interested in this league right now

The rule

A major penalty shall be imposed on any player who fights. A player who is deemed to be the instigator of an altercation shall be assessed an instigating minor pen-alty, a major for fighting and a ten minute misconduct.
(NEW for 2005-06) A player who is deemed to be the instigator of an altercation in the final five (5) minutes of regulation time or at any time in overtime, shall be assessed an instigator minor penalty, a major for fighting, a ten minute misconduct and an automatic one-game suspension. The length of suspension will double for each subsequent offense. In addition, the player's coach shall be fined $10,000 -- a fine that will double for each subsequent incident.
(NEW for 2005-06) (NOTE 1) No team appeals will be permitted either verbally or in writing regarding the assessment of this automatic suspension.
A player who is deemed to be the instigator of an altercation will have this recorded as an instigator of an altercation for statistical and suspension purposes.
NHL.com - Rulebook

A rule is a rule - even the stupid ones. What will likely happen is they'll (rightfully) look at Malkin's past actions (none) and rescind it. But the Pens can't appeal it, the league office has to do it.
