Will Tressell consult with Stoops?

Does anyone know if Tressel and Bob Stoops have a good relationship (both being from NE Ohio)?

If so, I wonder if Tressel will consult with Bob about playing Texas, given that Oklahoma has had a great deal of success against the horns.

Honestly, I don't think there is any consultation needed...the film will show every scheme that worked and every scheme that didn't.

The staff will be much more thorough of the film than a conversation with Stoops.

I think this is the biggest advantage OSU has in this game. JT is the consummate game prep coach. He has an entire off season to get ready for Texas - and he will be ready for every nuance.

I'm sure they've spoken about what has and hasn't worked against the Horns, in Stoops case pretty much everything has.

I think that when you get to the level of a major D 1 program they have a pretty good grip of what they think will work with the personell they have. If we have to plagerize someone elses' game plan we are in trouble.

I can see that conversation:

"Hey Bob, it's Jim. I have a few questions about stopping Texas' offense."

"Sure Jim. I'll send you our film from the past 5 years. Just don't run anything that may be in Michigan's defensive playbook."

If I had to guess, Tressel knew how to stop Iowa and Michigan (preparation and execution are two different things), but could use any help he can get for stopping a physical freak like VY.

This is a bit off subject, however a good friend of mine is engaged to a girl who used to watch Stoop's daughters.
ewww, not only is this offtopic, but she's not batting for the right team. Tho many would disagree if there were pics of this encounter

I recall reading that it was Arkansas, LSU, and Virginia Tech that the OSU coaching staff visited during the offseason. Are we sure about a visit to OU? The Sooners lost a ton of players last year, after getting publicly humiliated in the Orange Bowl. I'd be surprised if Stoops was making time for visits from outsiders while trying to retool his team.

I agree that Tressels gameday preperation, film study and attention to detail is phenomenal, but this is one of the bigest non-conference games and high profile games for the bucks in the last decade. If there would be another way to get an edge why not do it. THis texas team will be talented and loaded. Clearly no cakewalk
