Why was Auburn ranked in the top 10?

SEC titles before the confrence champ game are meaningless. Plus if you are going to quote me then quote the whole thing in context.
But the facts are still Auburn like them or not,
That's not a sentence, or even a complete thought. As for some 'facts' for the first quote...

Here I thought Florida beat Auburn in 2000. TWICE. But no, it must've been the big scary CCG that stopped them, not your team.

That leaves you with ONE CCG loss remaining, and another CCG victory. Yeah, THAT's whats holding them back :roll2:
I wouldn't let my female friends date one) Auburn has beaten LSU and UF in recent years which is much more than a certain big 11 team from ohio can say.
hey look, the one trick pony is back. Too bad too, we prefer actual debate instead of childish smack talk.

Wasn't Tubby talking some [censored] about OSU this off season? This is a guy who's made a living off of having a single good season (against a schedule, fortunately for him, lined with has-been and never-was teams that were charmin soft). Has he ever actually put together a compelling season with that team? Sure, they upset somebody now and then, but so does Michigan State - and nobody is ranking them in the top ten. I pray to God that we get Auburn in a bowl game, just for the hilarity of it.

I can't imagine a good scenario that would play out for OSU to "get" to play Auburn in a bowl game... but "just for the hilarity of it"?.... surely you've had enough of the hilarity?

Good luck on your prayer requests...:)

Right, because there's no difference between the top SEC team and Auburn :roll2:

there's not enough difference for it to matter OSU...:wink2:

Remember that LSU team that OSU struggled with in January? That LSU team only beat AU last year on the last play... and that same LSU team, Lost to Kentucky, and Lost to Arkansas. The difference in the level of competition in the SEC isn't that great. Auburn still has a chance to win the SEC, and it wouldn't be surprising for it to happen (or Alabama, or LSU, or UF, or UGA)...

I'm a little surprised you guys don't get that, yet. Then again, if you pay as much attention to the SEC as I pay attention to the Big 10, it's understandable... but based on some of the comments on the LSU-Auburn thread, a few posters seem to get it.

It's understandable why you guys are tired of hearing/reading about the level of play in the SEC... and I understand I'm walking on eggshells around here... as the wounds are deep and sensitive... so sorry if poked them a little... but I'm just commenting on your comments...

Good luck,
Steve

While I admire your entusiasm, I think you're off a little bit here.
The SEC ain't the only conference with tough games every week. Farmiliarity combined with hatred makes for great games. That's why USC/Stanford last year was possible. That's why OSU didn't hang 70 on Michigan. Hell, Pitt beating WVU (to put us in title game) is another perfect example.

To honestly think that the SEC's middle of the road also ran would dispatch the champ from another conference as being a forgone conclusion is kidding yourself. I like the upper teir of the SEC vs the Upper tier of other conferences, but no way in hell am I going to say a team like Miss. St. would seriously comete for the Big Ten title. That just ain't gonna happen.

I didn't mention Miss State, and you and I both know that Miss State is not a "mid-level" SEC team.

We were discussing Auburn.

Except that wasn't that same LSU team. Other than that, though...

???

The same LSU team that OSU lost to in January, almost lost to Auburn last year, and did lose to Kentucky, and did lose to Arkansas. I had mentioned this to point out the parity in the SEC, and that there isn't much difference at all between LSU and Auburn on a competitive level.

If you were commenting on someonelse's post, my apologies, as I didn't really understand your comment... but my this was my attempt to address it.

Top Tier:

Florida
Georgia
LSU
Auburn

Mid-level:

Alabama
Tennessee
South Carolina
Arkansas ?

Lower Tier:

Miss. St.
Ole Miss
Kentucky
Vandy

If you agree with that, I don't think any of the "Mid-Level" teams would compete for a championship in ANY conference. (still not sold on Alabama)

Really? LSU wasn't hampered that year with injuries? They didn't get anybody back to play OSU? They weren't fully rested and playing with the knowledge that it was their last game?

Same jerseys, not the same team.

They were full strength with no key players suspended while going through the SEC? Then the NC game announcers lied. Fuckers.
