They talked about the SEC scheduling tougher OOC games on Rivals Radio one time. One caller (an SEC fan) said that their in-conference games are tough enough, and they don't want or need a tougher OOC schedule.

You hear a lot of crap from SEC fans on that show. It's quite funny.

thanks for the invite. just a guess, but don't you think that the buckeyes would not travel well that far south, nor would the LSU fans travel well that far north for an early season game?

Buckeye fans would buy as many tickets as possible for a game against any top flight program in the country. Whenever it would take place.

What does everyone think?

Woody never scheduled ND because he didn't want his fan base divided. That said, I would like to see a Buckeye rivalry with UGA, Auburn, Clemson, USC, San Diego State, or West Virginia.

Off-point, I would like to see the OSU vs. Lilliput games come to an end.

Texas is at least as far away as any SEC school, and Washington and USC are both much further away, so I don't think that's a problem (from the OSU end at least).

The more I think about it, the more I dislike this idea. Ohio State already has the greatest rivalry. An out-of-conference rivalry? Join the Big Ten, and then MAYBE you can get considered as one of Ohio State's minor rivals. Until then, go play tiddly-winks with your cross-town rivals, or at some cocktail party. Or feel free to have delusions of being above any and all conferences and rivalries. Ohio State and the Big Ten will be where they always are - ready to play some ball.

Well, let's see....

We are playing in the coming years

Washington
USC (Home & Home)
Virginia Tech (Home & Home)
Miami Fla (Home & Home)
California (Home & Home)

Not dodging to many people with that list!!! Looks like JT and the crew are scheduling just fine to me....:)

I've been a Buckeye fan since the 50's and the connection to the PAC 10 has been a big part of the "traditional calendar" with USC, UCLA, Washington, Wazoo, Oregon, Stanford and Cal regularly scheduled (Arizona added lately). My guess is that those campuses are close to Portland, Seattle, LA and San Francisco which makes a very nice weekend package to sell to local alums along with alums who have moved to the coast. Notice that though we play at Washington, we have never played at Wazoo... and if you've ever visited Pullman you know why.. and also explains why we've not scheduled Oregon State, you've got to really want to get to Corvallis to get there.

The Bucks have also scheduled Texas teams. A&M has been on the schedule several times, Rice more than once and SMU.

If I'm not mistaken the state legislature held a gun to OSU's head and ordered them to begin giving dates to UC, OU, KSU, Miami and BG, Throw a bone to little brother and keep the money in state.

I might add that the Late Bo Schembachler was adamant in his oppossition to playing Notre Dame (might have had something to do with the fact that he had a loosing record against the Irish), "We don't need that game, they do." Was his argument. When the Irish turned down the Big 10 (somebody put a clamp on Chief before he spouts off) my hope was that Purdue and Michigan State would drop them from their schedules. That would have put real pressure on the Irish to reconsider.

Is it true or just an opnion that the SEC team wont play the northen schools? I mean it can't be the Temp. It is not cold the early part of season. The LSU fans think if LSU had the opportunity, LSU would come back and play Ohio St. They even went as far as to say, they would to see another Ohio St and LSU series. Here is a link to their messege board.http://www.tigerdroppings.com/rant/messagetopic.asp?p=3424133

There's more than enough pattycake schools for the SEC to schedule right in their own backyard without having to come up north :wink2:

I'll save him the trouble.

[NDC] LOL!!! Get your history straight!!! At one time, ND wanted in and the Big 10 said no!!! And Woody wouldn't play us!!! LOL!!! [/NDC]
