Who is going to the Bowl game?

I'm trying to decide if I want to go or not, as I've never been to a Bowl game. I was going to go last year, but the Alamo Bowl didn't excite me enough. How do you guys usually do it? Do you opt for the package deals with airfare, hotel, the whole works that run for $1500+, or do you just find tickets somewhere and try to do the rest yourself?

i went last year and to the 2 outback bowls. just bought tickets through ticket master and took care of rest myself. plan on doing the same this year where ever we end up....
How much did that cost for the Alamo Bowl (I'm guessing the 2 outback bowls didn't have much travel expences).

The Alamo Bowl was a good time, and tickets were reasonable. Heck, lower deck endzone corner seats cost me $25 less than C-deck Northwestern game did this year!

I do my own plan for travel and accomodations, but I'm fortunate enough to have friends in quite a few bowl cities. No matter where we go this year, I'm there.

27 I do it myself. Priceline.com is a good place to start the have cheap fares there. Next is Expedia and the other similar websites.

For the NC game I got Round Trip tics to Vegas from Cincy with 4 nights at the Monte Carlo for 450$ (yea I know it was a steal). Spent the night before the game roaming Vegas. Drove down to the game the morning of, partied like a rock star and then went to the game.

Crashed in the car for a few hours and then drove back to Vegas (the hotel room was empty the night of the game. Pulled and all nighter and then came back Monday.

If you can find a package deal with airfare and hotel with a buddy, that is the way to go. The main thing is to find out if going to Vegas or AZ is going to be cheaper. You will need a rental car either way so that does not factor in.

You should be able to do it for under a grand and have a ball doing it.

If we go to the Orange Bowl I'll hopefully be going. You can make reservations now and always cancel if we don't go thier. I have friends that have reservations in Miami and Arizona right now... which ever one The Bucks go to they keep.

Buying the packages is a good way to go if you're in a big group of people... that way everyone can stay togther... if it's just a few people I'd get tickets and do the rest on your own.

I found round trip airfare from Chicago to Phoenix for $203, flying out Sunday night 1/1, and returning 1/4. Hotels are also available at reasonable rates.
