I used to when I was younger...I have no clue where it is now. I still have my 1988 AFC Central Division championship banner though...I think I never got a Super Bowl one because of the dissapointment of the loss.

At about this time, you're probably sorry you even asked....

In 1981 the Bengals had changes that were new to the team. New Uniforms , a Super Bowl Birth and The Who Dey Chant.

Today you learn the origin of

Now you will hear stories of where it started and it wasn't Cincinnati. But I assure you. It came from Cincinnati during November of 1981.

That post deserves an award. Very well done. Cincy had a swagger back then. Its good to see them getting it back.

I remember when Darrell Waltrip won the Daytona 500 in 1989 and jumped out and did the Ickey Shuffle in the Winner's Circle. Classic Waltrip clownery.

I 2nd that Scooter

The bengals have been so bad for so long you can't help but appreciate what Marvin Lewis is doing in Cinci. They still can't convince any big name free agents to come to Cinci but I bet that changes in a few seasons. The AFC North is going to be a tough division for the next several years. Pittsburgh has one hell of a coach and a great team that reminds me of the Pats. Baltimore looks like they might be on a down-turn but I think they are going to still be competetive. As for the Brownies, it's hard to say what's going to happen there. I definately think the biggest problem (Butch Davis) is over and they can officially start re-building. I would love to see both Cinci and Cleveland have great teams and add to the great Battle of Ohio Rivalry. The one thing Cleveland really needs to work on is their damn cheerleaders. What the hell are high-school girls with braces doing on an NFL field. I will give the browns fans props on their signs they come up with at the games. The "Takes One to know one" sign was hilarious. Oh and making Tim Couch cry like a little beauch in the locker room was great. Here's to the Bengals.....watch out next season. Palmer is going to be much better and with a little luck on less injuries the Bengals look like a 10 win team.

sorry guys, the bengals still suck

The Cleveland Browns suck more!!

Buckeye Nation I respect your opinion, but damm who dey is back. Rebuilding a team when the owner does not put up the cash for the good players. Cinci is back on the map!

I have been a huge Bengal fan win or lose, just like many are when it comes to the Bucks. Marvin has got the team in unity now, which maybe this year wild card. Give em a year or so and alot of peep will say Cinci is a force

BN27 is an Oakland fan...not Cleveland.

The Bengals may very well be back, but Cincy fans need to really harness their optimism right now. They've got a really tough schedule remaining. Last I checked, they are still the same old Bengals as before and will probably screw it up by years end.

Cincy fans always come crawling out of the cracks as they near .500, then they are no where to be found when it all comes crashing back down. I'm telling you this much, until the Bengals prove they aren't the same team as they were in the past...they will get no respect. Until they prove me wrong, this is just another Jeff Blake/Carl Pickens type team.

I think there is a pro-football curse on this state.

OB that is crap. In years past I would agree but this is different. ML has turned the team around and everyone with two eyes can see that this is a team of the future. Not this year maybe but next for sure. Palmer is the real deal. We are the youngest team in the NFL. We have had a bunch of injuries and a very tough schedule against the top D's in the NFL.

Bengals win 10 games next year. Book it.

I'm not arguing that they don't have the talent or ability. I'm saying that this franchise is synonimous with underacheiving. Until the team finds a way to show consistency and kill the "Bungles", everyone will expect them to blow it at the end and lose games they shouldn't based on talent. I have heard the "next year" argument every year since I can remember from Bengals fans...every year it worries me that the Bengals could be good. Then they start 0-4 and all is right with the world. Death, taxes, Bengals screwing it up.

Again I emphasize...they have enough talent that they should've won 10 THIS year. I just refuse to buy into them until they prove themselves.

OB I completely agree with you in the past.
I have been one of the biggest Ben-gal pissed off ex fans since I made every game the year when they beat Buffalo in the AFC championship game. I have never gone back. They fucken sucked hind tit. I hated the Bengals staff, players and esp Mike "flush it down" Brown. Even when they make the late run and every red neck in the world start going ga-ga over the Bengals I NEVER bought it for one second. They sucked, and I knew that thety were going to suck next year.
IMO, the worm has turned. This is not the 8-8 attitude in years past. This is a different attitude and swagger. I would put a bunch of $ on the fact that this team will not go back for at least a few years.
This is a very very good offensive team that ranks up there with Boomer, ickey, JB and CK. We need another O lineman but they are comparable.
Even the media can see it. The Bengals are back from being a joke to a good football team. Thank you coach ML.
The D needs a couple of players in the secondary and another LB but I have confidence in ML when it comes to building the D.
Besides... by the time ML gets fed up with MB, Mike Brown might choke on a piece of steak and Katie would sell the club.

Same old Ben-gals.

I would like to take this opportunity to say that I was wrong. OB you were right. This team, the ownership, the coaching staff and the players suck and will always be the suckiest of the suckiest.

I may have been right for this year, but Cincy has shown flashes. Right now they are just like the Bengals of old in that they don't have the winning "attitude" and they make dumb mistakes to kill themselves.

The talent is there...consistency and attitude are what they need. Since those are the two factors that a coach can most effectively remedy, I think that they could very well be a good team soon. Lewis is fighting a lot of years of bad karma and losing attitudes, but if anyone can do it, it is him.

I just have the feeling that the Bengals won't overcome everything in a single year. They are going to have to slowly start breaking bad streaks and reaching a milestone at a time. That is why finishing at least 9-7 this year would've been huge. They have to have a winning season before they can do serious damage...there is just too much bad history to kill to do it overnight.

It could be worse though...you could be a Browns fan right now...like me.

"TURNCOAT"

Yes, I was pissed after that game, but now that I have had a chance to digest the loss I have to say. WE SUCK!

Really. How can you not come away after watching that lame assed effort being disheartened.

The play that got me was the fumble by McGahee. Justin Smith was going to pick up the ball and what happens, HIS OWN GUY KNOCKS IT FROM HIS HANDS OUT OF BOUNDS! That put me over the edge. I turned it off at halftime.

It was just too painful to watch. I want to root for the Bangals. I love the NFL. But it is just too painful right now.

I was surprised at the difference Palmer makes. Kitna is just not that good.

Oh well.
