"Who am I?" (Buckeye players edition...let's play)

I was a hard-hitting, hard-nosed LB here in the mid-late 1980's. I was voted team Captain and team MVP in the same year. I was also known for my boxing skills off the field, lost a close decision to Mike Tyson in the 1984 National Golden Gloves. I auditioned for, and was offered the part of "Danny" in the movie "Rocky V" but was unable to fulfill due to football. (The character "Danny" was later re-named "Tommy Gunn" and of course was portrayed by Tommy Morrison). Who am I???

I thought the answer was Carlos Snow, but I wasn't positive. I looked the answer up, and it turns out that when Carlos ran for 170, he had the second highest total against the Weasels. Number one is well before my time. I feel bad saying his name since I had to look it up...

I wasn't a big name, but I was a valuable defensive back for the Buckeyes in the mid 90's. I had the best special teams hit (on a punt return) in perhaps ten years of Buckeye football. I played lights out & this particular hit was on a BigTen commercial for almost a year. I didn't start every game until my senior year where I managed 56 tackles and 8 against scUM. I was a highly regarded recruit from Florida & I might make an all-name team list.

If someone gets this, I'll be impressed. If not, then I'll add a hint in a few.
