White jerseys no longer = away?

Just curious why I have seen a number of games this year where the home team is wearing white. I was under the impression that the away team always wore white. Is that just in college, or is there some sort of fashion change this year where uniforms are chosen randomly?

Traditionally home teams wear dark jerseys, but it is up to the home team if they want to wear white.

I believe the home team gets to decide if they would rather wear the normal darks or road whites.

I've noticed this more recently as well and wondered why the sudden change.

Some home teams will opt for the whites when the weather is hot. The Bengals have done that the last couple of years. I don't believe there's any rule in the NFL that dictates what color you wear.

What exactly are the college rules (if there are any), as some teams like LSU wear white at home?

In the NFL the home team has the choice of what color jersey to wear.

In the NCAA up until three or four years ago, the home team always wore the dark jerseys by NCAA rule. But schools in the south (particularly Georgia Tech and LSU) pettioned the NCAA to allow the home team the right to choose. I believe they did this because it is tradition in some southern states that the home team in high school wears white. The NCAA agreed and any school can choose to wear white at home at their discretion.

I know in the OHSAA rules for Ohio High School Football, the rules are the home team is to wear it's "dark" jerseys and the away team is to wear it's "light" jerseys. And the away team they is responsible for "avoiding" a color issue. But if a change must ocurr the home team will change. But this in HS where you never know what the other team is going to wear. In the pro's i expect some sort of communication between the two teams. If your the "home" team in Ohio HS football you can't wear white for a home game. But you can wear a "light" color. Such as my school has White, Gold, and Brown jerseys. We wear Brown jerseys about 3 home games of out 5 home games a year. The other 2 home games we wear Gold. Now at away games we almost always wear white. But one or two games this year we wore gold jerseys.
