But, his boss (full Colonel, group commander) was Michigan grad. He actually was a nice guy and despite the difference in rank we were able to give each other some real good-natured ribbing...this was near/at the end of the Cooper Era so obviously the colonel had the ups on us. But, when I retired (literally as Tressel coached his first game) and ended up working about 100 feet down the hall as an IT contractor, we kept in touch and after Tressel led us to the upset in 2001, from that time on we've had a standing bet on The Game (which he has always honored). Even now, despite his being now-retired in Colorado, the bet is still on...he and his wife have a time-share on Maui and they come back for a few weeks every two years and this past January while they were here he gave me the two six-packs of hefeweizen for the 2005 and 2006 games. Hard to stomach the fact a Michigan grad can actually have honor and integrity...

No fun. :(
Now... break into his computer and set every action to play Buckeye sounds, and turn the sound all the way up... right before his big presentation. Find a picture of last year's scoreboard and a Kinko's that prints banner-sized pictures. Always email bad news in maize and blue and good news in scarlet and gray. If he has children, start sending them OSU college brochures with "emergency" stamped on the front. With Buckeye compatriots, stage an intervention disguised as a meeting and never relent.

It turns out he doesn't like Mike Hart much, thought Henne let him down during the regular season (he did help them beat Florida), Mario choked during The Game, and Boren was a baby for quiting. He really meant he couldn't stand the fact that he may return to Ohio to play because his little brother wasn't being recruited by RR.
In any case, with the rebuilding that is taking place at TSUN, and the lack of a QB to run the offense there, he may be silent this fall. I will continue my loyal Buckeye support by wearing my colors on Friday's before games, posting tOSU articles on my wall, and hanging my Buckeye flag during Game week.
He's OK as a boss, probably as much of M*ch*gan fanactic as I am a Buckeye fanactic. It's been fun. He brought in a Coffee mug filled with buckeyes (he had to call them buckeyes and not chocolate covered peanut butter balls) at Christmas and has bought me lunch. I don't think he has paid up on the beer bet yet but I can wait. I will bet a case of Buckeye Beer the fall on the Game. The taunting is friendly and I think we'll be friends for at least 51 weeks out of the year.
