A good discussion of Mexican beer. I like most Mexican beers (I avoid Tecate and Corona). However, I like Bohemia the best.

If you like Sol, do you also like Superior?
Isn't it weird that one brewery can put out such different tastes? I guess that would be similar to Anheuser-Busch and it's Bud, Busch, Mich, etc. They are very much alike, but still different enough to tell apart. Tecate, Sol, and Superior are all put out by Cerveceria Cuahtemoc Moctezuma, and while all have the "Mexican flavor", as it were, the tastes are still distintly different. I prefer Sol over the other two, but am possibly swayed by knowing it is the most popular in Mexico itself.

Funny, you say good discussion of Mexican beer, but I got dinged (by you know who :shake: ) for my post (Lack of anything intelligent or substantive.) I wonder, did he nail you too for the sin of liking my post?

In regards to Mexican beer...
My favorite is Dos Equis Special Lager or Negra Modelo.
Excellent choices, but too, well, refined, for my taste. I'm not sure that refined is the correct word, but I can see where if I were to get used to it, that I wouldn't be able to drink the domestic swill I usually buy :!

I prefer the micro brewed stuff so voted for the domestic.

Yeah, there probably should be a distinction made here. I think of "domestic" beer as only the mass-produced Budweiser/Miller/Coors product type of stuff, and to me, microbrewed craft beer is a different category. At least, that's how we categorize stuff at the pub, maybe just so when people see a happy hour "$1 domestic draft" special they don't think they can get a pint of Bell's HopSlam or something...

Anyway, I enjoy quite a variety of beer, but it's hard to pick just one category. Some microbrews are delicious, others are horrible. Same goes for imports. And my preferences are highly dependent on my mood and situation. With food, I really prefer lagers to ales, so I'm likely to drink a German or Czech pilsner or a lager like Stella or Kronenbourg 1664. If I'm just drinking a beer, I prefer something with interesing flavor and will go for imports or microbrews, especially various seasonal stuff. I've been pretty into Belgian stuff lately, too - exploring trappist ales and stuff, and my latest favorite:

Maybe I'm biased because it's peachy, but no, I'm not opposed to fruit in my beer.

As far as microbrews go, I like almost everything from Great Lakes and am eagerly awating the arrival of Blackout Stout. Most Bell's stuff is good, too, though much of it is too hoppy for my taste.
