What's the fastest you've ever driven?

Mach 2, in a F-16. So, that's a little over 1500 mph. I love my job!

I no longer like you. :wink2: All I ever wanted to do was fly F-18s, but I am blind as a bat.

I remember years ago driving along the turnpike and being passed by a sports car that was just flying. It had a US AF Academy in the back window and a vanity plate that read F16PLT. I still think that is too cool.

I had a crotch rocket in undergrad and had it in the 90's at one point. I still had another gear to go, but was too scared to try it.

I've had my car up in the mid-90s a couple of times. I was riding with a friend years ago on the turnpike going to the Cleveland Airport to pick someone up. We were in his mom's new sports car. It was the middle of the night and not a soul to be seen. All of a sudden he looks down and realizes he is doing 120. Kind of a shift between his Chevette and a sports car.

Bin - me too! (F-15s though). For a while in high school, I thought about Colorado springs, but once I heard they wouldnt even accept laser surgery I gave up on a dream.

Oh well.....

I had a sneaky Navy recruiter tell me they would accept corrected vision. Fortunately, I had done my research and knew it wasn't true. I liked Navy just because of the ability to fly off decks. I also considered Annapolis until I knew I couldn't fly.

The F-15 is one serious plane. I would love a ride in any fighter or dual combat jet.

One time back from a party I had the cruise control set at 115mph on Rt.12 (Findlay to Fostoria). Got back in record time!! Thank God my Dad didn't find out since it was his car and I was still in High School.

Another time my brother bought a new car (Eagle Talon Turbo) and we took it out for a little "shake down" cruise. We were a couple of miles East of Columbus (Brice Rd. I think) going about 70-75 mph and a Dodge Stealth passed us. I got up to 90 trying to pass the guy and then slowed down (didn't need a ticket) and my brother looks at me and pulls out his badge and says, "Go get him, we're bulletproof. I finally passed him around Alum Creek and my brother says I was going about 125mph. I didn't really know how fast I was going because I was concentrating on making the curve that was coming up real fast and not on the speedometer. It is nice having a brother that is a cop!!!

NYB,

I forgot about that car... so it wasn't the purchase you were considering a few months ago....

I knew a few folks that had 944's in school... the turbo lag wasn't near as bad as I thought. Seems most folks put chips in their cars back then (that and the air intake, and exhaust).

156 my senior year in high school. I was driving back to Mansfield from a Cleveland Cav's game, on 71 south, about 10 miles north of Mansfield. I was driving my dad's Mercedes 560 SEL. That bitch shifted at 97. I don't know about 0-60, but that boat goes from 60-120 in less than three seconds.

not sure what my max was... but I'm sure I've been over 150 numerous times... when I was with Gdyr and we'd be rolling out a new performance tire.. they'd bring some of us marketing execs over to the test track... then they'd line up around the track and scream "wussies" .. or variations thereof.. as we thought we were on the verge of wrecking the car at any second... what a rush... I'd be driving 70 in a 35 zone going back to office.. and felt like I was parked...

can't even imagine what 200 mph is like... 2 inches from another at same exact speed next to your door... or a wall...
