You need to watch that play again, then.
Z'ski had an angle, and Ginn is flying past him. The sideline saved Z'ski there. If Ginn had 3 more feet of room to his left, Z'ski wouldn't have touched him.

As for Zbikowski, I haven't seen him much outside of the OSU and USC games, but he's definitely fast. Not Ted Ginn fast, but definitely fast enough to catch most WRs from behind. As for being a complete safety, I'm not sure. I think people tend to overrate Zbikowski because you see his speed on tape a lot, since he has to make up for the other members of the ND secondary who are average at best.

Zibikowski is fast and tough to bring down, he caught up to Holmes and threw him into the endzone the 2nd quarter I think. On punt returns he tends to run up the middle, flying by tacklers and fighting through, rather than avoiding them and running to the outside. The media does harp on his boxing skills quite a bit, then again, his record is pretty damn good...and in his first pro fight he knocked the guy out first round in 45 seconds. That guy wore an OSU jersey to the ring too :wink2: He was the top recruit of of Illinois his senior year, could have played QB or DB at most schools, got quite a few offers from Big 10 teams. Not that they're a big authority, but EA Sports has him listed as the best SS this year on the college football game. On the other hand, the rest of ND's secondary definitly is suspect, and most likely will still be suspect this season.

Are you sure he didn't judo-flip him into the end zone? I'll give you that he shows some obvious speed in that play but Santonio started slowing down at about the ten and Zibikowski doesn't lay a hand on him until the three. At that point he made a failed attempt at punching the ball loose before riding Santonio down about halfway into the end zone. No throwing involved what-so-ever. Sorry, couldn't let that one slide.

P.S. 45 seconds, ouch! :box:

yep, if anything that play shows exactly how fast ted ginn really is. zbski is a 4.4 guy and ginn was walking him. ill go a little lower, if ginn had another yrd to his left zbski doesn't touch him.

You're right, I was thinking about the USC game earlier in the year. Zibby did the same thing there, kept runnin' down a USC WR (Jarrett maybe), he let up in the 5-10 yard range thinking he was in for the TD, and Zibby tossed him into the endzone...little bit of punishment for the mental mistake. I think on the Holmes TD, Holmes let up in the same area and Zibby did attempt to knock the ball out like you said, but Holmes had a good grip on it.

Notredamefans.com is a free site, though they became very bitter after the Fiesta bowl loss. The guys that run the place are classy though. Also ndnation.com is free though their forum layout gives me a headache, and they're pretty bitter about the bowl game loss as well.

Oh come now, the site on a whole isn't bitter about the loss. There are some people that can't blindly see past the fact our defense was bad. Somehow we still hung in there until the final run by Pittman. Its not like there aren't Buckeye fans here that are bitter against ND even though you guys won :( Most of the people are pretty friendly there, there are a few very opinionated ones like on any site. Theres a pretty nice Michigan fan there, been there forever like NDChief has been here. Its posters like him that help bring down the bias a little bit, like on BP and NDfans where its going to be overwhelmingly biased and sometimes unrealistic, with good reason (Being how they are both dedicated to their teams). I must say I haven't met many respectable Michigan fans in my day, its kind of shocking really. Theres definitly some other ND sites that are more anti-OSU.
